Ear pain with allergies? A question for allergy sufferers: I've had problems with seasonal allergies only since I turned 40. (Same thing happened to my mom, so it was no surprise.) I've learned to deal with my itchy, watery eyes, the sneezing and stuffiness, and the sinus headaches, and I've been all right with over-the-counter meds. But now there seems to be a new problem. The season kicked in for me early last week and was the usual stuff at first, but since Thursday, my ears are aching, and the right one seems to be very swollen inside. DD looked inside when I was over there today, and she said there isn't anything visible; it just looks red inside. Does anyone else have ear pain with their allergy symptoms? Am I at a point where I need to just get a definitive diagnosis from a doctor and get prescriptions drugs? Or is this perhaps just an illness, like maybe a sinus or ear infection? Thanks, everyone, for your help. I'm in agony here!

I have alot of sinus issues & sometimes I do end up with earaches, usually the dr says I have fluid in my ears. I think you should get to the doctor, you could have a really bad ear infection & could cause your eardrum to burst. I can't remember from your post but are you taking any decongestants? Hope you feel better soon!

I just take over-the-counter stuff, and it takes away the headache, but it doesn't seem to drain my sinuses. I think I'm just going to make an appointment and see what's really going on. I took some ibuprofen before I went to bed, and it's not as bad this morning, but the right ear is still pretty sore to the touch.

So I went to the doctor today, and she told me that there is fluid built up in my ears and that it's definitely related to my allergies. She put me on prescriptions allergy meds that I'm hoping will work out for me: Nasonex, which she said will help with my sinuses and the fluid in my ears, and Clarinex. I didn't realize everything is so interconnected. I'm already breathing more freely through my nose, and that hasn't happened in a very long time! Probably should have done this years ago!

| I get so much fluid, pain and ear achiness if I don't take my prescription allergy medication- I used to take Nasonex but like the Veramyst much better. It is super expensive for those w/o insurance, I guess that's why it doesn't get prescribed as much. It specifically states that it helps with the ear problems too. Good luck!!!
