| The poor cat! I'm so sorry for him. But I wonder why his family allowed him outside if they knew someone was torturing him??

| OMG, That is horrible! Why do kids, boy especially find it so acceptable to abuse cats...like they are dispensable.. I work with all guys, and they are always talking abt cats,, Like " I'd shoot that cat" or Swing it around by it tail, I dont believe they would, but they talk like they think its cool... I have always been a CAT person,,, ( BB.... Before Bailey) anyhow, I would Strangle anyone that hurt MY cat!

| Perry was always an outdoor cat, he never went into the house. He lived in the garage.. The family loved him and he loves them, he just was a wild cat who liked to be outside.. Its so sad.. I hate people that abuse cats.. I was raised with cats my whole life and i admit, i used to tourture my cat (i swung her by the tail once) but then realized how bad it was and that she could have died.. I hate abusers

| They say that people most serial killers begin by abusing animals. I really hope these children are caught and punished accordingly. (Although, sadly, I'm sure they won't be punished severly enough.) Quote:

| Susan, I am not taking ANY offense to what you are saying.. It isn't my cat but all i know is if i couldn't get my cat in, i would be up all night waiting for her until i knew she was safe... I agrre animals shouldn't be lieft outside alone but i do feel cats are very independant and could survive better than a dog living out there alone.. Thanks for all of your support

| My mom has a cat that goes out in her front yard. A few times the cat - Sandy - jumped the fence to chase birds. Everytime this has happened, no matter what time it is day or night, my mom calls me up CRYING and begging me to come help her and my dad search for Sandy. We always find her around the corner or up in a tree but my mom can't go to sleep unless Sandy is back inside the house. So I agree, I don't believe in letting animals live outside most of the time. But this is just my opinion. I really do hope they find poor Perry.

| You're so right, Jen. This is a MAJOR issue with me. We wouldn't leave our defenseless children outside all day so why would we leave our defenseless animals outside? I'm not even fond of the idea of bigger dogs being left out in a fenced-in yard all the time, but I know some dogs actually prefer to be outside, and situations aren't always black and white to judge. I would worry about wild animals hurting my babies, much less mentally-unstable individuals putting these poor animals through God knows what. I guess I really don't even understand the point of getting a cat to just leave it outside. I feel sorry for your bf's neighbor and his kids, but I really hope he thinks twice about what the other cat probably went through before getting another "outdoor" cat. (I'm sorry, Brooke, I really don't mean to sound like a b*tch, but I am such an animal person that I hate to think of any animal not living with the love and protection they deserve. The quote from someone's signature really explains my feelings: the strong must protect the weak.)[/QUOTE] I'm not real quick to stand up in a controversial issue but there are people who have outside animals and there is nothing wrong with that. Our Australian Shepherd puppy is an outside-only dog. She gets mega love and attention and has a very large outdoor kennel area with a nice dog house set up. We live in the country and she is being trained to help with the cattle. Just wanted to point out that there are reasons for outside dogs. I would never chain my dog up and not pay attention to it but I also will not allow her inside the house - that's Tatum's domain. We also have 2 outside-only cats (kittens at the moment). They roam the yard and immediate property during the day and sleep in a large kennel on the porch at night. They are our "mousers" and keep small critters at bay. There are reasons for having outdoor animals.... not all of us are torturing the poor things by making them live outside. I would never leave a dog such as a Yorkie outside but there's reasons for them being inside dogs too. Not criticizing anyone else's opinions, just trying to show another point of view.
