| Does anyone else observe Lent? My Family is Catholic and while I wouldn't say we are OVERLY religous we do practice Lent every year. I remember when I was little how hard it was to give soemthing up! For the past 4 or 5 years I have given up all forms of junk food (fast food, candy, chocolate.. ice cream) and my mom is giving up Diet Coke (it almost kills her!!) anyone else doing Lent this year? (starts next wednesday in case you forgot ) |

| I just looked up Easter 2008 in Google, it's in March. Very fast. Well, at least she's just my friend now, she used to be my BOSS!! "shudder"... give the woman some chocolate, pllllease.. LOL! Two years ago she did something else, rather than give up something she decided to do something every day instead, I believe it was say a certain prayer or Rosary. Or read the bible. Not sure which. |

| About 10 years ago I changed my idea of Lent. Instead of giving up something I've made it a time of renewal for my mind, body and spirit. I make a checklist of things to do every day for me. It's just little things. Time to read, time to walk out by the lake, time to be mindfull of what I eat. I floss every day, read a book or 2, clean one drawer or closet, drink my water, light a candle, journal, pray for friends. After 45 years of Lent, I find that it is harder to do something good for myself than it is to give up something. Works for me.
