About 10 years ago I changed my idea of Lent. Instead of giving up something I've made it a time of renewal for my mind, body and spirit. I make a checklist of things to do every day for me. It's just little things. Time to read, time to walk out by the lake, time to be mindfull of what I eat. I floss every day, read a book or 2, clean one drawer or closet, drink my water, light a candle, journal, pray for friends. After 45 years of Lent, I find that it is harder to do something good for myself than it is to give up something. Works for me. |
