| Coyote My son came in earlier and said it looked like there was a German Shepard in the field to the east of us. I looked with the binnoculars and it was a coyote. It would walk around for awhile and then lay down. At one time it looked as though it pounced on a field mouse or something. Anyway, it was too far out in the field to get a picture of it, but it stayed around for about 3.5 hours out in the open and cold wind. Finally my hubby and son drove the truck through the field and it ran off. They chased it in the truck as far as the truck could go. I sure hope it doesn't come back. I'll have to be extra vigilant while letting the babies out to potty.

| they are very cunning and resourceful predators. A lady that was walking her toy poodle on one of those extendo leashes got her dog snatched up by a coyote. I just had one get into my yard and kill half my chickens a few days ago. They can jump a 6 foot fence and kill for sport as well as food. They will scope your place out for weeks before making their move. |

| There's a story in the RIP section right now about a little dog named Max that a coyote got ahold of. The coyote was in their yard and took off with Max A coyote almost got my parent's yorkie once too. I suggest always taking your dogs outside on a leash, especially at night, if possible. Or go outside first before you let them out to make sure there is nothing in the yard

| Coyotes are all over Georgia. Once my husband walked out the door at 5:am for work, but came right back inside to let me know there was a coyote outside behind my car We had chicken houses and they were always hanging around. He killed several right before he died and after I got Lucy, I always kept her on a leash when I took her out, even in the daytime. They have a large territory and usually circle around every 3 to 4 days. Once they find a food source that they think is easy, the only way to get rid of them is to shoot them.

| I was just telling my mom about these coyote stories. They've got them where they live too. My mom said she's been hearing them at night lately. And they have been cutting some woods down behind their property which has been causing all the wild animals to move around. I always take Lacy out on a leash when I'm there because she doesn't listen...once she got out and took off running as fast as she could and I ran off after her...she started to go into the woods behind the pond and I only had flip flops on. I'm terrified of snakes and didn't want to go in there and luckily she came out of the woods and I caught her. A lot of the time my parents yorkie goes outside without a leash and one night there was a coyote in the woods beside our house and Rylie took off after it. My dad yelled at him to come back and luckily he did or that coyote probalby would have gotten him. They're pretty good about taking him out on a leash at night now.

| The coyotes here are not as big as our german shepard....they are small like a fox, but a little bigger. They are pretty, but I don't want them around because I know they will prey on our animals. We had a momma coyote come up right to our porch one day....I opened the door to scare her off and Mojo ran after her. I had no shoes or socks on, it was raining...so I ran after him...luckily, I was in pretty decent shape then (I would fall over from exhaustion now), but I caught up with him...but he scared her away. Course, I knew that she would turn on him if she wanted to. Our neighbor said that the same coyote came to their place and they were thinking it was a female looking for a place to den. We hear them EVERY night...sometimes, there are sooo many of them, it is sooo scary sounding. The big dogs keep them away from the house...we hear them down in the valley.

| I don't know if we have coyotes here...I'm sure we do outside of the city in the country. I saw a snake on the sidewalk the other night though! It was little - like a foot and a half long. I was really surprised to see it though since it was dark and in the 50's. I didn't think snakes would be out in cold weather. A couple summers ago I was getting out of my car and let Lacy walk over to a little grassy area by my car and there was a big snake under a tree! It was ready to strike and almost bit her! I went to the townhouse office and a couple men came and killed it. It was a copperhead! Scared me. I HATE snakes!
