To me, that sounds like reverse sneezing. It's just like what Jake does. He did it at the vet one time, and he told me it was reverse sneezing. Jake only does it when he gets really excited though.

When Jake first did it, I was so scared of collapsed trachea. I asked the breeder about it (we've become friends and stay in touch ) and she said it sounded like reverse sneezing. Jake had to go in for a checkup and he did it at the vet's office and that's what the vet said it is. I was so relieved!

Default Collapse of trachea? Any comments?

I think this is the video--any other comments from those who have had this or do have collapsing tracheas would be appreciated.

I took Lola in scared that she had a collapsed trachea because she always made a backwards sneezing sound....and I then learned about the reverse sneezing from my vet. My vet said that a collapsed trachea sounds like goose honking. Lola reverse sneezes a lot and it sounds like a sneeze more so than a honking. Your little baby sounds like she is making more of a goose honking to me than Lola's sneezing noise. Only a vet would be able to tell you for sure though Keep us posted!

Luna does this although her "episodes" are a little more severe and my vet told me that its reverse sneezing it really gets bad during the spring months because of all the pollen and stuff in the air.

I'm no expert but it sounds like collapsed trachea, the all too familiar honking noise. What does her vet say? How old is she and how long has she been doing this? My 1st yorkie had this, but the vet said it was worse because he was overweight. Yours doesn't look overweight, how much does she weigh?
Usually if you pick them up and sooth their necks(throat) with a light massage it will ease it, and try to keep her calm, not to get overexcited. Sure do wish you well, and I hope I'm wrong and that it is indeed reverse sneezing.

Hi,
My Chloe has a collapsed trac and she sounds just like your baby. She is six years old. She got it when she was about 3 years old. I am not sure your little one has the same thing..If your vet says its something else, she should know. If you have any questions, let me know. Good luck with her. to your little one.

Ralphie is 2 years and 3 .5 months old. He has been doing this sonce he was about a year old I think. the vet has never heard him do it, so he does not know. But I need to take the video to him to listen to.

What have you done to cure this prolem? Ralphie is not over weight at all. Sometimes, I give him a Benedryl, and he seems to get better.

call me crazy but what would cause a collapsed trachea? maggie does this noise once in a great while but nothing has ever happened to her to cause a collapsed trach. she goes in fits...she will do this noise (exactly what is like in the video) for a few minutes and it will sometimes last for a few hours...not a constant noise but doing it every few minutes or so...

she has never been walked on a leash. not one single time. and I dont know that anything has ever happened to her for her trach to collapse. she is with me 24/7. I would also think that if it were a collapsed trach, it would happen consistently and not just once in a while. ????

this is very interesting.....I am curious to hear what a "reverse sneeze" sounds like in comparison to this "collapsed trachea" condition.

To me that sounds like reverse sneezing. My lil guy has a collapsed trachea and his is more raspy, kind of goose honk (not so much), and he hacks at the end. And it happens more in fits/episodes. he is better now but still has little episodes, especially when the weather gets dry and cold (in winter).

Here's a link of how my guy sounded like, he had pneumonia/bronchitis too, and that was the catalyst for his CT. You can best see CT through an x-ray.

http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=217491&cdate=20061211&ctime=144216

CT is hereditary (from what I have been told) if you do a search on YT you'll find TONS and TONS of info as it is common in smaller breeds. There are varying degrees of CT, and so with some you may never know he/she has it.

Also here's another link of more info on CT, it was given to me by another YT'er:

http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Con...=1&SourceID=42

btw .. you're lil one is SO CUTE!! i hope nothing is wrong and it is just reverse sneezing!
