| Daisy rings her potty bell My Daisy is a genius! So I taught her last week to ring the bell whenever she needs to go potty and she always rings it now even if she is on leash, so I thought I would get her on camera! I must apologize in advance for my horrible video skills. She learned the bell in a matter of minutes over a couple of days...of course I had some super yummy treats on my person, so she happily obliged. I made the bell with some string and bells I got from Hobby Lobby. Ignore the first few seconds of the video, as I am just taking her off her leash. When I say "potty" she tries to go to the front door because she knows it will lead her outdoors to go potty. However I only have a bell on the back door, so that's where she usually goes out to go potty. But she will sometimes go to the front door, if its closer like in the video, and just jump up at the door to try to get out. Also, notice that she rings the bell twice because I wasn't moving fast enough the first time, lol! And she is ONLY 14 weeks old!! I would not say she is fully housetrained but she hasn't had an accident since about a week ago and it was totally my fault. I was trying to teach her the bell and trying to get her to ring it before we went out but she really had to go and she just went right in front me, lol. We have been working on potty training religiously since she stepped foot in this house about 1 month ago. Daisy rings the bell to go potty! - YouTube |

Daisy smart pup. IMO potty training is the most satisfying training. When you have dogs that potty outside all the time it's taken for granted IMO. Puppies love them but | |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Well, I would say that Miss Daisy is a very smart girl. Her success, however, is a credit to your consistence . Yes, I did notice that she rang the bell twice - "Hurry mom...I hafta go, I hafta goooooooo!" Thanks for sharing.

| Awww how precious - she's such a bright little girl. I just got some potty bells for my 5 month old little girl but as hung them on the back door she wouldn't stop barking as it was 'something new'!!!! Has anyone else experienced this? The bells are sitting on my dining table now! Lol!

| Wow, I am envious, Miss Priss will be a year old next month and still not fully trained. I know it is my fault but my allergies have been terrible this year and going outside for very long is rough on me so I try to hurry her along..I do wish I had started paper training, oh and to think I took her out all of last winter too.LOL

| Thanks all! I'm so proud, LOL. I let her off her leash yesterday and let her have free run of the house to see how she'd do. No accidents and she rang the bell every time she needed to go out, all by herself. Of course now she thinks she owns the house. Anyway, I think I will continue letting her enjoy her freedom, so long as she is responsible. SUCH a load off not having to worry about her peeing and pooping on everything. |
