| ![]() Well, Yoda and Yoda's Mommy took off for a short California vacation last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I think it's turning into the vacation from hell! Yoda got at LEAST 21 fleas the past few days, and to top it off, he hasn't pooped since he LEFT! ![]() So that's four days now that he hasn't pooped. Has anyone's Yorkies not pooped for such a long period of time? Is there anything we can do to make him poop? They are coming back tonight, and if he still doesn't poop, we will definitely take him to the emergency vet. Yoda had his teeth cleaned last Monday and he was still on some antibiotics this week. He has a little pot belly right now and is bloated. He's been fed some fruit and they've gone for walks at parks, the beach, everywhere, but still he won't poop! We're just wondering if anyone has any solutions or has heard of this before... I guess Yoda just ain't a California boy! |

| ![]() I have not had to do it but I do know that dogs have been given enemas by vets. I would try using Glycerin suppositories (children's). Used for dogs with constipation. Perhaps you can phone your regular vet to double check before using the suppository. I am so sorry that Yoda and Mommy are not having any fun at all. He will be really happy to be home with Daddy!

| ![]() Oh poor baby Yoda. I wish he start feeling better soon. i did a google research i found this info. http://www.redrocklife.com/dogs/articles/humanmeds.html Metamucil: Used for constipation. For small dogs use 1Ú2 a teaspoon a couple times a day, and for large dogs use up to 2 teaspoons twice a day. Mineral Oil: Used for constipation and ear mite relief. Give your canine buddy up to 4 tablespoons a day for constipation. To combat ear mites, once a day heat some oil until itŐs warm to the touch. Then put a couple of drops in the ear canal. Repeat for at least one month. Olive oil mixed with garlic can also be used as an ear mite remedy. Crush a few garlic cloves and let them soak in olive oil overnight. Then, remove the garlic, heat the oil until itŐs warm to the touch and, as with the mineral oil, place a couple drops in your dogŐs ear canal. Repeat about every other day or so, for at least one month. Oat bran and Canned Pumpkin: Also for constipation relief. Add a teaspoon or two of either to your dogs food everyday until bowel movements are regular again. I hope this info help Yoda go. Please keep us posted. |

| ![]() Yorkies can indeed be given an enema but that is a bit difficult. My suggestion would be some canned pumpkin AND the small half of an infant suppository with LOTS of lubrication..I would suggest Vaseline instead of a water based lubricant. If he has been eating well he wil become impacted and that can mean a vet visit and a very uncomfortable boy. The large amt of lubricant is important so the hard stools will slide out. Oh, mercy, that is graphic but I know of no other way to say it...hope I don't gross anyone out.. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Poor guy - Hope he feels better - Antibiotics play havoc with their tummys and that's one of the side effects....I really hope he feels better and I bet is going to be so happy to be home...you must be missing him ! (and your wife too !) lol... Are you sure it was only 21 fleas ? Could it have been 22 maybe ? ![]() |

| ![]() This happened to Missy & Max recently. They both ate something that didnt agree with them and had diariah for 2 days so the vet gave me antibiotics. Once they took the antibiotics they didnt have diariah anymore, they were constapated. They didnt pass a bowl for 4 days, the vet told me it was probably because I was feeding them a bland diet and it didnt have much substance, so I fed them their regular food and they both looked so bloated, I took them on a walk and shortly after that they passed about 4 days worth lol.. I was worried when they wen't 4 days with out passing a bowl but they vet said as long as they dont appear in discomfort they should be fine. They did pass once they were full enough and got some excersize. I hope Yoda's stomach troubles are over really soon so his Daddy doesnt worry anymore ![]()

| ![]() We're so sorry to hear about little Yoda. Poor little guy. ![]() As a side note, Otis hasn't popped in two days, and he's also on antibiotics for that little incident with the Cesars. I just did a search on Baytril (animal antibiotic) and constipation, and I found nothing. So I think we can rule out the fact Yoda's on antibiotics. ![]() Please let us know how he's doing. |

| ![]() Yoda FINALLY POOPED! The big news of the day in our household! Thank goodness. We did try the Metamucil and mineral oil, but it didn't seem to help from last night and this morning. So then we used Vaseline, still nothing, and finally a saline enema (a bit of it) and he finally squatted and pooped! We are thus quite relieved!!! Hopefully he won't have any issues tomorrow or the rest of this week... |
