| My neighbor's Yorkie. Hi, Now for my second post. My neighbor has a Yorkie who constantly barks. They let the dog bark all day. I have a Yorkie too, but I know the whole neighborhood doesn't want to listen to him bark! I've been woken up by this dog, I've been distracted by it while at the computer, and I'm sick of it. I've already been over there and nicely asked them to stop letting their dog bark for long periods of time. The guy was nice, but they haven't done a thing. Obviously they have no respect for anyone else in the neighborhood. ( In My neighborhood the houses are close together. The barking echoes quite joyfully.) I know dogs bark, other dogs bark outside, mine does too. But no one else lets their dog bark for extended periods. What really bothers me about these people is that I don't think they like their Yorkie being inside. (I can see perfectly into their yard.) The dog has a kennel outside, is fed outside, and stays outside most of the time. They even have a lawn chair pinned up against the sliding back door so that the poor thing can't see inside. I have literally watch as the dogged barked frantically to get inside, at night, and the woman just shut the blinds on it. They keep it out in the rain. What it weighs less the 10 pounds and is staying outside when it's raining, and windy? Who would do that? Anyway sorry for the long post. This has just been really pissing me off. I'm not claiming they abuse their Yorkie, however they sure aren't very loving to it. I want to call animal control on them for the constant barking. Has anyone ever done this before? I just want someone with authority to tell them that the barking isn't appreciated, and extremely rude. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | In our area, if a dog is being a nusance with barking, you can report them. Maybe if people in your area started doing this, the owners would get the idea. Either let the dog in or find a home for it. It is sad that they keep this dog outside. I know of a breeder that does this and I think that it is very sad. Yorkies are people dogs and don't like to be left alone. They are being very neglectful. You don't get a dog just to feed and water it, you get a dog for companionship. Obviously these people just can't fit this little baby into their lifestyles and that is sad. If they can't love and care for it the way that it deserves, maybe they should find someone that will.

| In Md you have to call the Animal control people not SPCA. But, my neighbors reported their neighbors for allowing a Beagle to bark constantly. It helped but was not a permanent solution..Beagles will bay at the drop of a hat and there is no stopping them.. |

| I know, it really pissed me off how they leave it outside all the time. Yorkie's need people, it's sad. The guy I talked to literally said they were leaving it outside at that moment in time (when I went over to talk to them it was pouring down rain) b/c they don't want the dog to be afraid of the rain. Because they want to leave it outside in it I assume. When I watched that woman close the screen on the poor dog I wanted to punch her. I'm going to get the number to animal control tonight and try to call tomorrow. |

| Hi! Sorry to hear about the noise you're having to put up with. I've experienced that too! Fortunately the neighbors were considerate enough to address the problem before anyone had to bring it to their attention. I have absolutely no time for ignorant or uncaring people-- I deal with them all day at work and don't like to when I'm at home. Coming from a law enforcement standpoint, I can tell you to not be afraid to call in a barking dog complaint. You can either call the police department or the dispatch center. That is what they are there for. If the problem continues--then continue to call it in. If the police show up at your neighbor's house enough times--they will get the hint, and probably a citation. You can do this anonymously. Hope this helps! |

| Wow it sounds like the yorkie is in a sad living environment, no wonder he is barking. I would call the local animal control and see if that gets you anywhere. My neighbor has a Beagle that would bark all day while the owners were at work, I never mind because I am at work too but some other neighbors called the local authorities and the owner got a warning. It could be a noise ordnance? I am not sure what my neighbor did to improve the situation but I sure dont hear his Beagle barking as much anymore. Hopefully you will be able to find a resolution, it doesn't sound fair to the yorkie or to the neighbors who have to hear him barking for attention. Poor yorkie...

| I would bark, too, if someone left me outside in the wind and rain! I think that the owners are the ones that should be in trouble, not that poor baby who just wants a hug! |

| Maybe if you reported this enough times, they'd get fed up and re-home the little yorkie with kind loving owners!! Poor little thing... sounds to me asd if they failed to maybe house-train him (they probably made no effort!) .. they would be better off without a dog as they certainly don't deserve one!! Ana xx |

| Nearly all populated towns and cities have a noise ordinance, which includes dog barking. An officer will visit the home, see the situation, give the owner a warning. If in 10 days, the owner are still not in compliance, they will be issued a citation.
