| Bad skin hey, its my 1st time in the forum! well my wife brought a yorkie home a while back (about 4 months ago). she got it free and it was doing pretty bad. so we took it in and got it healthy. now we are having problems with the dogs skin. He is constantly scratching and his hair is not growing in the places when he is scratching and of course it looks very bad. his skin is very red and raw some times... if you would like pictures posted i have some on my pc and i can upload if you would like to see. so any advice would be cool, thanks |

| get some T-Gel shampoo to bath it in. That should help the itching but it won't cure any skin problem it has. Welcome to YT. We are glad to have you here. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I now how you feel. Calis scratches all the time, I have had allergy testing done, switched foods cut our grains and she still scratches. Her coat is suffering. I am going to be trying some supplements soon to see if they work.Even the benydryl and meds from doctors did not stop the itching at all. If I fund something that works I will post it!! Hope you can get some relief.

| Im going through the same thing with cody. He has a white patch where no hair is... and he was scratching terribly. i took him to the vet and she did a skin scrape and culture. she said he didnt have mites or mange. she thought he was just losing his puppy coat.. so about a few weeks i took him back and she gave him cortisone shot and 3V vitamins to help put oil back in his coat. those didnt help it gave him bad diarrhea. i switched his food from science diet to royal canin puppy 33 and he doesnt itch hardly and i think that spot may be getting better. good luck i hope your baby gets better!!! |

| I agree with Amy81 to try a food change. My older dog, a Shi Tzu had/has terrible skin and ear allergies. But it improved sooooo much with just a food change. Find something very high quality with limited grains. Or try a raw food (we used "Steve's Raw Food"). Be sure to let us know what you find to help! And Welcome!!
