YT 1000 Club Member | Flying with the pup I know many of you have flown in to get your pups.. so my question is how much did it cost you? I know it depends on your destination and what not but could you tell me from where to where and the cost?.... And can you tell me the type of carrier you used and for what airlines... The reason I ask is because I have heard of breeders flying (anywhere in the US) with the pup to you for a charge of $290 (the lowest I've heard) and then there are ones that charge $1000 (I know rip off ) |

| Did you check this section for information too? https://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/traveling-yorkies/ As for me if i was gonna pick up a dog, You can really find cheap rates I would say 300-400$ for a round trip and save on hotel fare by flying out the same day. If you have planned ahead and not trying to book at the last minute. 1000$ is crazy but also consider the time they take from their schedule. Hotel costs and tack on an extra 80-100$ to bring the dog with in that thousand. Also if its a last minute arrangement I am sure 1000$ is not too much. I will fly this November i think with my son and two dogs through AA one way from Puerto Rico. I plan on getting my tickets next week and it looks like the tickets will be about 450$ x2 plus 80x2 for the dogs. I am sooo in love with petflys carriers, but Am really a functional gal. I looked and looked for another carrier that was cheaper and gave me satisfaction as for as the style. My style goes from tomboy to very simple and functional, thus after thinking about it for a whole year, I think i have settled on a sherpa deluxe original carrier. Its three times less the price of a petflys uncle monkey carrier that i wanted but somehow i think that this will work better for my dogs. |

| cost of flying and pet carrier I flew to get my puppies and was able to get a ticket for around $300. I used a Sherpa pet carrier and was very pleased. http://www.sherpapet.com/

| My breeder was excellent and paid for my ticket and the pups. Call the airline and ask what size carrier you will need, because they're very picky, and don't fly Delta if you don't have to, because they weren't pet friendly to me. I think the fee can be anywhere from 250-400 depending on where you're flying.

| If you mean what does it cost to fly the puppy WITH you in the cabin, each airline has a set fee for anywhere in the U.S. it can be from 50-90 dollars. no matter where you go. As a breeder who ships pups, right now my fee is 250. break that down. The fee the airline charges is usually 170.for travel anywhere in the U.S. Travel crate from Walmart 15-25 dollars. vet check here in my town, 30. rabies shot if old enough to fly is 25. My gas to airport which is an hour away is about 20. round trip or more and my time is priceless. As you can see, most breeders don't make money shipping dogs. If you are talking about your ticket to fly to get the dog, of course it depends on where you are flying but the pet fee is set by the airline and is the 50-90 dollars added on to your ticket. They all have their own rules on in cabin carriers also. As long as you get a soft sided with soft top corners that you can mash down, it works. don't make the mistake I made once of buying a soft sided carrier with firm top corners. it was one fourth inch to big. |

| It cost me $65 each way with AirTran. I too used a sherpa and it worked perfectly. He had room to have a couple of his fave toys packed right in there with him and the zippered pockets held his vet cert, treats, leash and doo bags. I picked up a very soft plush fleece liner to put in it ( it came with one but this one is heavenly!) and he flew in comfy style. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Oh, I forgot all about the traveling section. Never had the need to go there before (hope they take this there).... I decided if I wanted to get a pup far from me to fly in to get her/him. I have no idea about airlines because I only flew soomewhere once and someone did everything for me. I just showed up. I'm more of a road trip person.... What happened when your carrier was a little too large? Did they make you pay for one of theirs? (AND Thanks every one for telling their experiences) |

| My breeder ONLY uses Delta. I flew to get my puppy and it was $80 to take her in cabin with me. The trip was a disaster, but that's another story. Tomorrow I am flying to Florida with Kalina and that charge is $60 each way. I have a soft carrier by Celltei, which is airline approved. It is 1/2" taller than they call for, but I'm hoping it'll smash down. Otherwise I'm sunk!!
