| Newbie Question Mere or Dapple Puppies? We just had our first litter of puppies and I'm confused! I have 2 puppies that have a very different look! We had 4 pups 2 are black and tan and 2 have a merle or dapple look- has anyone heard of such? Obvious question anwered forst- no other dogs were around female when she was in heat- is there a recessive gene that would cause this? Both parents are AKC registered and have pedigrees- thoughts? |

| There is one girl here, Julz, had two red puppies in her litter, they are very interesting and adorable. There are several that they call Brindle (i think) which have almost a collie coloring, I think they are YorkieRose' dogs. Look at their pictures in the photogallery. My sis has dachsund which is a dapple, grey with black spots and brown ears. The brindle are very beautiful

| YorkieRose, do you have brindle coloring puppies? I wonder if it is someone else. No big deal except the person actually who has those puppies would be a better sourse of info. I have parti colors...please post pics so we can see these babies. I AM NOT IN ANY WAY INFERRING THAT THESE ARE MIXED BREED BUT, MULTIPLE MALES CAN SIRE A LITTER!! Sometimes, when we think our female is out of heat or has been bred and it is okay to let her out. They are what we call "oops" litters..Again, post pics, please.. |

| Thanks for the responses- I have a picture but I'm not sure I can figure out how to post it. I own the male the female is owned by another person. I have not ruled out the possibility that another dog could have been around the female (the other person swears up and down this would have been impossible) - |
