| In general, yes. If you want a guaranteed healthy tiny, do not buy from a breeder that breeds tiny yorkies, buy from a reputable breeder that breeds healthy sized yorkies that occasionally have extra-small puppies (runts). Also, it is not wise to trust a breeder that advertises teacups or micro-tinies, because there are no such things. Are you looking at any specific breeders that we can give you advice about?

| Generally the teeny tiny Yorkies come pre-packaged with a special set of concerns that those of us with larger yorkies don't generally see. My Peppy is 3.25 lbs. and is healthy as a horse and there are many smallish yorkies out there that are perfectly healthy and sound. The real problem comes is breeders use unhealthy and undesirable breeding techniques to downsize their pups. Good luck in your search, the perfect Yorkiekid is waiting for you. |

| I have a small one, not yet 3 pounds at 6 months. Will likely be 3 1/2 pounds. She wasn't the runt of the litter, but everyone else definitely outgrew her. She just took alot after her Daddy. She's very healthy, our only concern is that she's just so small for a family with children, we have to be so careful when she's out of her expen and with a 7 year old running through the house we have to keep her in the expen for her safety. For this reason, I'm trying to place her in a small child-free home lol. So she can be number one. BTW, I'm not trying to sale this girl on this thread but to say, there are some healthy and small. (Ain't shipping my baby). Good Advice has been given above, don't go to those who breed for tinies. Last edited by Susan123; 06-04-2007 at 04:12 PM. |

| I've had one on each side of the coin, one that was sick that I purchased from someone else and the one that is healthy from my litter. I'd rather have a nice and sturdy one lol |

| Check out http://ytca.org/. You can definitely find reputable breeders there. Remember a 5 or 6 lb. Yorkie is still small! Good luck in your search!
