| Possible new puppy! (questions) A friend of mine just called me and said that her friend is giving away his teacup yorkie for free. He is just looking for a good home. He said that the puppy is 1 year old. I am not sure if it is male or female. I already asked obviously why he is giving him away and is he is good health. Is there anything specific that I should ask? I def want to ask to have a liver shunt test done but I am not sure what else I should ask for. My Diezel is going to be 2 in a couple weeks and I really would love for him to have a sibling. But my next concern is him adapting to another dog. Will it make a difference if it is a boy or girl? A little about Diezel is that he has no problems at all when I leave him. He does not cry or become distructive. The neighbors never hear him barking. But he seems to have some seperation axiexty when I home with him. He NEVER leaves my side. If I am sitting someplace where he cannot get up on my lap he panics and cries. Right down to the shower. He trys to push the curtain out of the way so that he has a clear view of me at all times. (that is really cute) But my concern is this. Is it wise to bring in a puppy already 1 year old. I have heard that it is better to bring in another one as a baby. Any info would be great. I know that I can give this puppy a great home but I dont want to sadden or depress my baby now. I know everyone tells me to get another one to keep him company but I dont want to act on impulse for my own selfish reasons in really wanting another one. I am waiting to hear back now as far as sex, health and shots but I feel like I should be asking more... |

| well you need to ask if it's house trained then ask if it has been breed with different dogs then ask if he has done a bile acid test run then ask if he has shots updated then ask if the his dog is good with other dogs then ask if has allergies of any kind then ask if he has done test onknees, eyes, legs, hips, etc. then ask if it has had portacaval shunt, tracheal collapse, Leggs-Perthes,patellar luxation, liver ultrasound and eyes testing these are major concerns ok. good luck. |

| JMO, but if someone is giving away their Yorkie it means they don't want them anymore. To ask if they have performed a whole battery of tests on them doesn't really seem right. If those are tests you want to have done, fine so be it. This person isn't charging anything and thus isn't really responsible to even make sure the dog is UTD on shots. If this was a purchase I would have a different opinion. Probably if the truth be known, the dog is still not potty trained. We all know that it seems those little Yorkies are hard to train 100%. Add that to the fact that people have to work and are away for those hours to. Again, this is all just my opinion. But I do hope you get them and the price is right!!!!
