| A big day for Riley! Today it was 62 degrees outside and beautiful. After dinner, my father-in-law and husband were outside with the dogs. As my father-in-law headed up the stairs... I looked behind him and there was Riley, 3 steps up! Probably doesn't sound like much to most of you, but our little girl is 4.75 months old and still well under 2 lbs! She'd never made it past the first stair before, and the first time she did it... it took her about 20 minutes to get up it. We cheered her on tonight, and she made it all the way up! Now, going down the stairs scares her to death... but I sure was proud! My little girl is growing up! *sniff* |

Then I told DH that I was going to post it in YT. He just smiled and shook his head. But I know all of you understand. | |

Understand??? We encourage this type of behavior LOL, my dh has gone from rolling his eyes at me to saying things like, "you should take a pic of that and put it on Yorkietalk!". Ha, ha, he never comes here, but I relay alot of what goes on

| Yeah for the milestone (who cares what our dh's say)!!! Chewie mastered going up the stairs immediately, but I am anxiously awaiting the day he can go down by himself. I've been gradually setting him down about 2 stairs from the bottom and he hops down, but I'm too scared to let him loose any higher. |

| I can totally relate to your proud moment! Tia was not able to go up the stairs in our house until just last week. I had left her on the main floor while I went up to put away laundry. I looked down and there she was at my feet! Now, a week later....going up is no problem....but going down is something else all together! She'll cry at the top for someone to bring her down. I've been teaching her slowly, helping with depth perception. I I leave her alone and encourage her, she'll make it part of the way. Wen to the vet yesterday and found out that right now for her age and sixe (12 weeks and 1.1 kg) she should be carried down the stairs because it could be bad for her back. In her words: yorkies should be encouraged to walk as much as possible and to live a horizontal life. I teach her to go down anyway...I like knowing that she could do it if she needed/wanted to. Congrats! Isn't it amazing? I'll be a little sad when she's all grown up...puppyhood is so much fun! |
