| Is Your Yorkie a Lap Baby? I wonder because it was recently stated in a thread that yorkies are commonly not known as lap dogs. This was news to me! When I was researching the breed (several years ago), it was stated that they a consummate lap babies and love to be with their people. This is one of the big and many reasons I wanted a yorkie. My baby is very much a lap baby. Don't get me wrong she loves to play but she loves being in my lap more than anything. I wanted to know if this is this an exception or the rule? Is your yorkie a lap baby? |

| Most definitely Gracie is a lap baby, rather a shoulder baby! In the evening when I recline on the sofa to watch TV, she jumps up on me and snuggles up on my left shoulder, and gives me lots of kisses.

| Absolutely, sometimes she even pushes her way in. Especially, when friends come to visit and she must be in the middle of everything. |

| Oh no! I wish, though Mia is very independent, and she only lies down on my lap for a minute max if she is feeling charitable. Don't get me wrong, she loves attention, games, training and a couple of hugs here and there but she is no lap baby. Maybe it has to do with her size too. Being 9.5 lbs, she cannot comfortably fit on my lap either. Sometimes if I am sitting on the couch, and she feels like taking a nap, she comes and lies down right next to me. Then I get to give her belly rubs, and boy does she love that!!

| Hmm... seems like a good mix. So, I guess it just depends on your baby's personality. The more mellow yorkies are more prone to be lap babies (I'm assuming). Queequeg is the same way. She prefers to sleep right under my chin. If she can't sleep there she will settle for my lap. Sometimes she just likes to sit in my lap and stare into space. It's like shes contemplating the meaning of life. |

| Interesting question! My husband always says he can't believe Vixxen will jump off our laps to go lay in the other room on the chaise!! She has made this HER chaise, as she sits up high enough to see everything and outside! However, she has to know where I'm at in the house every second and has to sleep with me and will make herself sick if I'm away too long! Funny huh? You'd think she'd be on my lap more! And Truffles is pretty independant also! However, she will settle down and sleep on my lap alot

| Uma is very much a terrier when on the floor, but as soon as she is put on your lap she becomes all snuggly and cuddly!

| Muffin is either perched on our laps, demanding our attention...or being Miss Independent, laying in another room & totally ignoring us. She doesn't seem to have a "gray area"! All or nothing, it's one extreme or the other. CJ

| Beauty is a bit of both. When we are at home and it is just the two of us (when my daughter is at school) she is such a new born baby. But as soon as 2:57 hits she is ready and waiting for my daughter at the door. It is amazing how she knows exactly what time to get up from her bed and go to the door. It is almost scary. Once My daughter is in Beauty is a totally different dog. So I would have to say that she is a little bit of both!
