| Question: Does Puppy Trading go on? My Daughter was here last night asking me if I would consider breeding Mya. Many of our friends and family members would love to have a puppy from Mya. I was wondering if someone has a litter of all females but they wanted a male puppy and say someone has a litter of all males and want a female..... Does anyone trade a puppy from thier litter with someone else who has an equal quality puppy? I would consider breeding Mya once then have her fixed. This is why I was wondering if trading happens. BTW, I know it is possible for her to have only one pup. Respectfully, Cyn Driving the grammatically correct insane, one posting at a time. |

| I'm sure it does happen with two breeders that trust each other. It makes sense, after all. Just find someone you can trust and learn from and I guess someone that's local to you too. |

| Didn't someone just post something about a breeder saying that he/she would trade a male yorkie for any female toy breed?? Definitely wouldn't approach someone like that!! I would just make sure you know who you're giving your puppy to. A female could land in the hands of an awful person and spend the rest of her life in a cage and pregnant. I've seen people advertise trades on puppyfind.com. I would just get plenty of references, see where this person plans to keep your puppy, and follow your gut-instinct. |

| Thanks for the responses and advice. Yes, I would not trade a puppy with anyone that I did not have some kind of relationship/contact with. |

| I dont see anything wrong with it as long as you know what kind of breeder or home your puppy is going to. If this is your first time breeding maybe find a mentor to help you in selecting a good person to trade with. |

| Is your girl breed quality or PET quality? Is there any life-threatening event that you can foresee by breeding your beloved family pet? Is it worth the chance just so others can have a puppy? Please research a WHOLE lot before you put your pet thru something that could cause devastating results. Does a responsible breeder in your area have a stud that has been tested and is clear pf STD's, luxating patellas, hips, PSS and the other genetic problems Yorkies are prone to? I am not tellyou not to breed but I am saying that no breeding should be undertaken til the breeders have fully educated themselves to try and improve the likelihood of a safe and healthy pregnancy.. |

Although I do not have previous experience in breeding a dog, I do have many years of experience in dealing with dogs medical and emotional problems. I hope that puts your mind at ease. Respectfully, Cyn

| A female should be worth more than a male for sure. I don't know about "double" though. |

| I would like to add something to my response Quote:
She has impressed everyone from when I got her at 9 weeks by how smart, trainable and social she is. If I were to breed her I would like for a male that is in perfect health like she is and defect free, but that also has her outstanding personality and wit. As for what I would be putting my pet through, I put myself though risks to have childern. I researched then as what to do when pregnant and got lots of advice. Something could of gone wrong there too. I taught one of my foster pom 96 words. All the family and friends would test her. She listened very well, but not like to be stared at or be around kids. With Mya she is just so well rounded behavior wise. She just has a wonderful nature about her that has people hoping that I would breed her one day. Time will tell Regards, Cyn Last edited by Mya's_Mom; 05-19-2005 at 06:04 AM. Reason: spelling ......again
