Maddie doesn't like kids Everytime we are out and Maddie sees a child under 10, she barks and barks at them. She has never really been around kids. I don't really know what to you. I always worry because kids are always drawn to her and want to pet her because of her smaller size. Does anyone else have this problem or any advice?

My yorkie Kramer hated kids also. He just loved to terrorize them and would not hesitate to bite them if he got a chance. I just had to keep him away from all kids. The 4 I have now are all very friendly with kids. I don't know what you could do to make Maddie more friendly. Has she been around kids at all? Maybe you could let he get to know just one kid and then she would trust them more.

We had a Cairn Terrier Trixie that we adopted after my great Aunt passed away. She had not ever been around children and when we got her she was about 1 1/2 yrs old. I had 4 children at home and she got along with everyone except my oldest son. Trixie would lay beside me in the chair and if Brandon walked by she would jump out of chair and nip at his ankles. she finally adjusted to him and they became very close. We had her for 16 years before she left us. One of the sadest days of my life. She never really liked any other children out of our family so I just had to make sure all the visitors knew she was not kid friendly and I would tell Trixie to "be nice" if they wanted to pet her. She was extremely loyal to me and listened very well. She would just look up at me with those "Save Me" eyes when a kid was around but she didn't ever bite. Thank Goodness ! I miss her terribly. Everyone always said she was uglest dog they had ever seen, but she was everything to me. Here's one of the last pictures of her. We had just added Reesie to our family. She was a life saver. Sorry I didn't mean to get off the subject.

Most YOrkies do not like kids under 10 years of age. I am not surprised that yours is not keen on them Keep kids away from her as she could bite them, get you both into trouble.

Adonis doesn't like kids under 10 or so either. He was nipping at my great nephews diaper when I put him in another room, but neice (childrens mama) thought it was funny. Well, I wasn't too amused, so he goes up when little ones are around now.

| Cooper doesn't like little girls from around 6 to age 12 or 13 or so. I can't figure out why, except that maybe that they will kinda talk in that high pitch squealy voice when they see him and he doesn't like that, and they also tend to just reach out and try to pet or grab him from my arms and he most definitely does not like that. It is kinda embarrassing though, he always dislikes people who seem to want to touch him the most and that is usually little girls. Luckily Carley LOVES everyone, and they just move on to Miss Carley Bear We now tell people to ignore Cooper at first and that seems to guarantee that Cooper will then want their attention and will be sweet and not agressive acting.
