| Growing coat after short cut? Hi all, I was wondering my yorkie Lily I rescued had a really short haircut when I got her just an all over puppy cut. Is it possible to grow it again? Will it come in long? How long would it take anything I can do to help it? Or should I just keep her cut short? Ruthx

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | It depends on how much work you want to do - I grew my Chanel long after a short puppy cut - it took about 1 year or so to be long again ...now I cut her myself and am considering another short cut...it's so much easier and faster to bathe ...but she has alot of hair - my youngest Cheri is much easier to keep up with and she has semi long hair. I'm no expert but keeping them clean and using good shampoos really helps the coat |

| Before we rescued Lucky, the shelter gave her a terrible, short haircut because she was so matted. No one could even tell that she was a yorkie. In fact, most people couldn't believe that we actually adopted her looking like she did. She was shaved to the skin in some places and had 2 inch long har in others. It was all patchy. It took a while, but she now has a beautiful, long, flowing coat and she looks like a completely different dog. It probably took almost a year to get it this length (nearly to the floor) but she is also very tall for a yorkie. Just be patient. I'm sure it will grow out beautifully. I must warn though that the long coat comes with a price. It is fairly high maintenance and must be brushed at least a few times a week if not daily. Lucky and I look forward to her grooming time. I usually just keep a brush hidden near our couch and brush her when I am sitting around watching television. It think it's worth it. |
