| I use a grooming arm on my counter top. sometimes they will let me stand them up holding their front legs, other times I just lift one leg at a time. If she is matted you will have to work in some dematting product and then just do a little area at a time. Their tummies and chests and underarms ar very sensitive, so take it slow. I have been using Best Shot grooming spray from Petedge and it has really worked wonders. Cowboy magic also makes a good product for matts. You may need someone to help you hold her to get it all brushed out, then after that if you keep it up and she realizes that it isn't going to hurt it should get easier. |

| i set mine on the counter by the sink. take their two front legs and prop them on my left arm and comb under there with my right hand. and when their on all 4's i just reach under and comb from inside towards the outside. mine lets me comb them all over.

| I used to have a hard time brushing Kayah, she would try to chew the brush. She does not like laying on her back the way I did it was I would pet her and once she was comfortable I would pet AND brush her; now every night I brush her, she just lays there like a little angel. After I finish brushing her I gently use her brush on her tummy (kind of gives her a massage, i guess)

| I hold Bella on my lap while I'm sitting and stand her up with my left arm so her back is against my stomach. She feels secure and I slowly brush her. She seems to like it. I use 3 minute miracle conditioner when I bath her and it seems to help with the knots between baths. Even after I take her sweater off and she is really messy. I just got Cowboy Magic. I haven't used it yet

| Emma doesn't like this too much either. She likes being on her back-she sleeps that way and is VERY submissive, but not to be brushed. I hold her that way until she calms down and then brush her tummy. Another idea is to prop her up on her hind legs and brush the tummy. In the beginning, she wouldn't let me do this, and would try to escape and be ALL over the place. I started grooming her on the bathroom counter so she couldn't jump down, and there was no place really to go. That helped some. Also, I SWEAR she understands from the tone of my voice when I mean business, and I finally just TOLD her very firmly what I was going to do, and why, and that she would just need to be patient and hold still. When she still struggled after that, (when she was younger), I would hold her scruff until she calmed down. Then she REALLY knows I mean business, because she doesn't get "scruffed" unless she's being pretty naughty! |
