| Kennel cough from the breeder! My poor little Jackson. He has been coughing for about 9 days now. It started about 5 days after we brought him home. I finally took him into the vet today and was told it is kennel cough. He hasn't been around any other dogs or even to the groomer yet, so the vet said he must have picked it up at the breeders. How disappointing that I brought him home sick. Other than that, he is doing quite well. Jules |

| Hi Jules & Jackson and welcome to YT!!!! Just a thought, but when I got Sissy at 13 weeks, the first thing we did was get a vet check-up with a vaccine and her intra-nasal bordatella. She promptly then came down with kennel cough, which is a reaction to the intra-nasal version. In my experience, she got sick the very next day after the bordatella. I don't think kennel cough has a long incubation period, but I could be wrong.....

| Hi Jules, welcome! Is the vet sure it's kennel cough and not just something that's causing an irritation (according to a very knowledgeable breeder here, vaccumming and carpet dust can cause all of that coughing as well as other irritants)?

| sawyer and the cough I waited for 12 weeks to get sawyer, and watched his progress on the computer the whole time. When I went to get him, he had a bad cough. The breeder told me it was a reaction to his bordatella shot, and offered me another pup. I was so in love with this little fart by then, that he was all I wanted. I took him to the vet, and he was on antibiotics for about a month. He is doing great!! Kennel cough is pesty, but as long as you watch out for pneumonia it is not fatal. I thank God every day that I took Sawyer, cough and all.

| Jackson' cough Well, Jackson is still coughing of course, and he doesn't exactly like the antibiotics, but I think he'll be fine. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to take him to the vet. I kind of wish I'd taken him a week ago actually. BUt hopefully with a little TLC he'll be all better soon. Gosh, I just love my little guy! Jules |

| No Fun My how I hate kennel cough, it is no fun for those little babies, but it is not life threating! Hang in their, it takes a long time to get over, I find Vitiman C 250mg, per day helps bild the amume system, works just like an antibotic, and is a great prevenative! Use Ester C it does not upset their tummies! I think that will help your little furbaby! I also know when I start to come down with anything I take 3,000 units of Vit. C 3 times a day, and I never get sick! Keep us posted on how long the kennel cough lasts, I can't remember, but thought it was about 3 weeks. |
