collars Do all your baby Yorkie(s) wear collars 24/7? When we first brought Schatzie home in August we put a collar/name tag on her. Not tight or anything but I noticed after about a month it broke all her hair around her neck. (so now her neck looks uneven compared to the rest of her coat, goofy! ) So, we took her collar off and now she only wears one when we are out in public for potty breaks. I really feel more comfortable with her collar on as it has her name tag with needed info on it. And if she ever got lost the info is on her tag. However, I don't want to keep breaking her hair. Any ideas?

| Our vet told us to never use a collar but to use the harness type. The reason is that our Yorkie babies are prone to Trachael Collapse and the collar puts pressure on the little neck when they pull against the leash. We had a problem finding one tiny enough and wound up with a cat/ferret type that is adjustable as they grow. Also, we only use it when we walk her. Hope that helps!

rolled leather collar Our groomer suggested a rolled leather collar. They are braided into a small rounded (like rope) shape instead of flat. They take up much less room to rub on the coat. May be worth a try.

I will have to look for the rolled collars. Yes, Shatzie uses a harness when walking as I too have read about the collapsing of the trachia (sp). It is just I want to keep her identification on her.

I dont need a collar with any of my two because they pee in the house (peepee pads) and are never ever let off of the leash whilst out..also they both have a chip. Iv never liked collars,I dont even make my cat use one..Im worried they´ll get caught on something whilst im out,or pull at each other by it and hurt their delicate little necks.

Yoda wears some jewelry, and usually has a dogtag with his name and our name and phone number on it. Usually he only gets it when we go out, but he knows it's HIS jewelry and he wants it!

Hi! I bought a leather collar for charlie and made sure it did not fit tight around his next. He wears a harness when I walk him.

Higgins always wore a little collar with his name tag/our cell phone #/and his AVID (microchip) tag. HOWEVER, we never attached a leash to the collar, but used a cat harness instead. He spends a LOT of time running around our woods and we were concerned that in mid-sprint he might catch that collar on something, so now he doesn't wear a collar at all. When he is outside and when we are traveling, he wears his harness, to which we have attached his tags. We take it off for him to sleep at night.

buddy belt I got Tish a buddy belt. It works great for her walks. She uses the wee pads also so but I put the buddy belt on her when we go for walks or rides. I ordered it off the net.

The first 2 weeks we had Pippin we left his collar on (except at bed time) because we put a little bell on it so we knew where he was so we didn't step on him Now we only put it on when we go out because he's learned how to watch out for our feet
