| Sorry, I do have to vent sometimes too. About how long does it take for most puppies coat to grow down to their feet? :sigh: I dont think kizzys gonna ever make it that long. I get so disgusted sometimes when I think of what that breeder told me about her but I love her all the same. But I sure did want a small pretty dog. She is pretty to me but not the pretty I was hoping for. I see so many on here that are to small and all that pretty long hair it makes me jealous. not jealous because some of yall have em but jealous because Kizzy is already bigger than she was suppose to be, almost 2 times that and now I'm beginning to wonder if her hair will ever be even close to the floor. And I get mad each time I think of the breeder showing parents that I just cant believe are kizzy parents as their hair was all way to their feet and kizzy is already bigger then either of them were and she is may as well say 5 months old. Makes me feel like I was taken and thats what makes me angry. I just hate being used by anyone for anything. I like honesty even if it isnt what I want to hear, I rather hear it straight and honest. Can anyone understand what I'm talking about or is it just me? I'm hoping yall all understand it dont make me care less for kizzy because i love her to death but it makes me mad to have anyone lie to me and I would almost bet money that breeder lied to me.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Vent away! There are so many factors that come into play for a long, gorgeous yorkie coat. Food & nutrition, brushing and grooming care. Do you realize that even when a yorkie plays outside, the grass can damage the coat and ends? Most of those long beautiful coats you see are wrapped to achieve that length. Ask some of the show persons here. Wrapping takes time and dedication. Gracie's hair will probably neve touch the ground, either and she's over 2 years old. She likes to play and rough house with my other 2 dogs. They pull, snag and rip out hair sometimes. It's all part of being a dog. Don't get discouraged. If you're determined to do this, get all of your supplies ready and talk to the show people. It's not an easy task.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Also, with the yorkie beard, you should not even let them drink out of regular bowl? There are special ways to give a yorkie drinks. Also, you can't give them chewies unless their beard is pulled back or else they can chew and break their own hair. Oils and conditioners, the list goes on and on.

| I have been growing Jewels hair out since she was 4 months old. She is 17 months now and her hair still isnt to the floor. I read on here its hard to get it to the floor unless you wrap it. Just be patient her hair will get longer with time.

| I suppose I need to explain this better. lol. I dont care if her hair touches the floor or not. lots of yalls hair dont touch the floor but it is not straggly like kizzys is right now. And I dont care if hers is silk or cotton as long as its pretty. Thats all I mean. I just want it at least half way down. her mom and dads didnt touch the floor but it was way below what I call their knees. maybe she is just going thru that shaggy looking stage for now as even people do when letting their hair grow out. I sure hope thats all. e1 is very nice here and I appreciate all your post to my questions, just hoping I can explain what I mean. lol guess i'm a dumb ass about these puppies. But I'm learning. .

Friends of ours thought they were getting a small s**tzu, expected to be around 8 pounds, she turned out to be 3 times that. They really envy us for our little yorkies, but they love their dog too. I'm sure that I already have my first puppy sold. LOL As for the coat, most show dogs are 3 years old before they get a long coat. So don't get discouraged, it will come. | |

| I have a female named Gidget that was so darn cute as a little baby, fairly nice coat as she grew, her hair became dryer rattie, and didn't seem to grow at all. I had tried different shampoos and conditioners, but nothing seemed to work. I finally tried the PetSilk shampoo and condition and could tell a very slight difference in her coat. After a couple more washings (every other weekend) her coat was really becoming nice. She is 16 months old now and her coat is soft and a little silky and it's approaching floor length. Another 2 inches and it'll be there. Don't know if a dog gets split ends or not, but when I groom her I snip just a teeny tiny bit off the ends and I think this has helped also.

| well I dont like the pet silk tropical shampoo and conditioner. So I gave Kizzy another bath today in her hartz, shampoo I use to use and her coat looks maybe a little fuzzier on the ends especially around her hips but it is much shinier. So I'm gonna stick with it a while and see what happens. I didnt use any conditioner at all. I still wonder if the fuzzy looking ends is baby hair.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I know it is frustrating! I have a Pom who is suppossed to weigh 5 lbs but weighs 13 lbs. As far as coats My Gracie, pic attached, was about 2 2 1/2 in this pic ate nothing but Ceasrs wet dog food and I took her to the groomers every 4 weeks, I rarely brushed her in between, so I do believe genetics play a very big roll. Now Cali's coat has shown great improvement with Missing Link supplement and I used pantene conditioner and Cowboy magic detangleg. I don't think she will ever be as long coated as Gracie but they are all different. The pics are Maya(pom) Gracie and Cali after Cowboy Magic.

| You know we all vent on here from time to time and it's definitely ok - I thought Sully's hair was taking FOREVER to grow but now that he's almost 2, it's getting near floor length! I have only taken him for one haircut in his life at his 1st birthday, and he gets "groomed' (paws, sanitary areas) about once every 3 months. We use Chris Christensen day to day shampoo and conditioner.

| How old is Kizzy? I have found that with Baileys hair, it has changed so much and still is. She is 8 months right now. And yes, we all need to vent. When we bought Bailey from out breeder, she showed us her parents and then said... we have no way of knowing what Bailey will look like when she grows up. She could be the same size or larger or smaller, can't guarantee coat color. She said the only thing she could guarantee me was that Bailey was from 2 purebred registered dogs. I though that was pretty good in insuring we had no expectations. I also found that through some posts on here, this has happened to a lot of people. I think the only way you know 100% what an adult dog will look like is buying them when they are adults. I know my breeder from time to time will have adults for sale because she bought them for breeding but now they have matured they are too tiny for breeding.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Both my girls have long hair - My oldest Chanel had Long long hair at just a year old - while my youngest Cheri really blossomed about 1-1/2 years old. Is she still a puppy ? I think hair is genetic and you just have to keep your fingers crossed....She just may surprise you after she gets a little older.... since you said be honest - Please don't use HARTZ products - Petsmart has plenty of good shampoos and you may want to try something more suited to a yorkie coat. Hartz is el cheapo shampoo and you may be using the wrong shampoo on her.... A good one at Petsmart is Tropiclean but I would use a conditioner on her ...and of course ....you may want to try CC Systems or Plush Puppy...both are quality products and I saw a HUGE difference in hair texture switching to a good shampoo back a few years ago. |

| well I have been using pet silk shampoo and conditioner (which I wont use anymore). I've tried pantene, manes and tail and the hartz and so far her hair is shinier with the hartz. I didnt even realize it was hartz until I looked at the bottle today and it was small on it. I dont normally believe in using hartz anything and never have when I had my other puppies. maltepoo and pekingese, but that was years ago. I have ordered new cc brushes. I ordered the 20 mm and, the triangle one for her face. But I am so disgusted with doggie secrets now, I probably will never buy anything else from them. my brushes should have been here and the only way to ck on an order from them is to send email. So I did and got one back saying they were on back order and they didnt realize it at the time and guess my order slipped thru the cracks but would have it send directly from the mfg. and for me to let them know when I get them. But they still didnt tell me how long it should be before I do get them. So I answered and told them I would let them know when I get them if I had an idea as to how long it would be or just cancel my order. I mean they never did send me anything about anything being on back order. So if I ever get these it will be the last thing I'll ever order from them. Sorry if this place belongs to any of yu yt people but I'm just expressing how I feel about it. Anyway, I also ordered her a silk harness and leash because it looks to me like her hair is breaking right where her web harness goes around her, especially her shoulders and I know its adjusted to fit properly because I even had the vet ck it. oh well , enough of my gripping today. lol. I hope all of you have a great 4th. We plan the same.

| Linda, I am sorry you are so frustrated. Have you ever tried Coat Handlers? Their products have worked well for Chattie who has a silky coat that gets very very dry. ....on the brighter side..... YOUR NEW SILK HARNESS AND LEASH ARE IN THE MAIL. With the 4th coming up, it will probably be Wednesday before it arrives. |
