| Vacation tips please We are (unfortunely) leaving our 1and a half yr old puppy next week while we go on vacation. The last time we went we boarded him (mistake) and he had gotten diahrrea before we got back. This time he is staying with my parents (which he LOVES) Any tips to make the trip easier on him (and me) ?? Thanks!

| I just did the same thing. But a few weeks prior to my trip I had Kona spend the night at their house. I figured that way she would remember that I would be coming back for her. I made sure to pack her favorite toys and her blanket. |

| Hi! Where in Alabama do you live?! War Eagle, by the way I know you hate to leave your puppy, but you are doing a good thing by leaving her with your parents instead of boarding him. He will be a lot more comfortable there. Before you leave for vacation, I would get a couple of clean towels and some old t-shirts and sleep with them in your bed for a couple of nights before your vacation. Then, when you leave your pup at your parents, you can also leave the towels and tshirt for your pup to sleep with and lay on. They will have your scent on them and it will really help to comfort your puppy. This is probably the best advice I can give. It really helps our puppies when we leave them at home even just during the day while we're at work. If you live close by and your parents need help caring for him, I would love to help out! Enjoy your vacation. Your puppy will be fine! |
