| Collar for Kizzy I have ordered a collar with Kizzys name engraved on it. She has never worn anything but a harness. I dont like her to have to wear a harness all day so thought I would get the collar to keep on her during the day. When I have to take her out to tee tee she is good about just running outside and coming right back but I rather have her on a leash to be on the safe side since we have lots of property with lots of wooded areas around. Our deck has openings with steps going down each side so yesterday hubby put gates at the openings so I can let her out on the deck now sometimes during the cooler mornings and evenings to play with out having to have a leash on her. This way when I run her out to tee tee I have one leash I keep on the deck I can just grab it and hook it to her collar for that or when we're out on the deck she wont keep getting tangled up around the table or chair legs and I dont have to jump up and untangle her every few minutes, its much more relaxing now. But when I take her out to play in the yard or for a walk she will definately have on her harness in case she pulls too hard on the leash which she is beginning to learn she aint going anywhere if she pulls. I just stand there and ignore her and till she quits pulling and when she sits down and looks at me i start walking then she walks without pulling for a while. But she still isnt fully trained on that yet. I never want her to pull with a collar around her neck. I dont trust having a collar on her while training her to walk on the leash without pulling. I just think that will be so great that she wont have to wear a full harness all day. looks to me like that would be uncomfortable for her to me plus her hair will hang prettier and I worry the harness will make her hair break off more. what do yall think.

| We use a collar and leash for Bailey much of the time when we're out just running around town and she's in and out of the car a lot. Most of the time in these situations, her feet hardly ever touch the ground. We found almost by accident that she performs very well with a collar. Shen she get to the end of the leash and feels the least little tug, she backs off and changes direction. We actually keep the collar pretty loose - just tight enough that it won't come off over her head. I know that many dogs aren't this docile on a leash, and I definitely wouldn't try it with a Yorkie that fights against the collar/leash. Whenever we actually go for a walk, though, it is always with a harness. There's always the possibility that something might catch her attention so that she really pulled hard against the leash. So far that hasn't happened, but I wouldn't bet that it never could. |

| Because of their minute size, I personally do not recommend a collar and both my babies DON'T ever wear a collar . . not for walking, not for playing and certainly not while on training. Of course, if you can fully supervise them 100% making sure their collar does not get caught when playing, I guess that could be okay. There are so many different harnesses available that should suit your babies needs. You can find them anywhere, including my website. I have a step in harness that is 5/8" wide and buckles to the back it is good particularly for very long coats as it does not really get much in the way. . . They have d-rings that will hold all of your ID tags as well as to be used to attach the leash. |
