| Does your Yorkie get the shivers? Where I live the weather is always weird. Yesterday and a few days before that the weather was really nice. Temperatures in the high 60's low 70's, and Raven loves to be outside, she drives me nuts ringing her bell wanting to go out on nice days. But today the weather totally sucks. If we reach 40 today we will be lucky. But on days like this after it has been real nice, she just shivers all day long. Does anyone eles yorkie do this when the weather changes? Kim

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali shakes when cold and scared. I live in Illinois too and I always put a sweater on her when going out. She is also wee wee pad trained so she only goes out when it's warm or for vet visits.

| Our Yorkie did have the shivers a few times. Since I have been walking him everday he only gets the shivers when it is around the -20 mark. I think they must adjust to the climate because I have been walking him when it is -10 and he is doing fine. |

| I don't dress my Yorkie like a lot of owners do (not judging) but I had to buy Shelby a couple of functional sweatshirts for her walks. She also got a new pair of boots when we spent a week in the mountains for vacation. These dogs get cold, their fur does not protect them like other dogs. |

| When I put a sweater on our puppy to walk the velcro froze and stuck to a little bit of his hair. So now we go out sometimes without a sweater as it was too much of a struggle to get him to wear his sweater. He doesn't seem to mind the cold at all. Is it because he is a puppy? His hair does seem a bit thick. Will it thin out when he is an adult? |

| I saw some birds on Animal Planet who were sitting on rocks just shivering away like they were freezing to death. The narrator said, "By the way, don't worry about these little birds shivering. They aren't cold. This is what they do to keep warm, and they're quite comfortable." It's nature's way! Well - since these were wild birds who have lived, bred, and raised their young in this area for centuries -- I guess he was right. And, they were coming and going and eating, etc. etc. and except for their shivering - seemed to be perfectly happy and fine. Still - my pup wears a coat when it's cold outside. I can tell you though - if he is outside shivering - he still doesn't want to go back into the house. Shivering and all - he thinks he's having fun! Carol Jean |
