| You need to get a spray bottle and mix 25% white vinegar and 75% water. After cleaning up the poop, spray the area well and let dry... he should no longer think of it as his spot.... use the search box on this site to find other threads with more info |

| Nature's Miracle might work too. Also, when you catch him in the act, reprimand pick him up and take him to the pad! I have startled Esme MANY times by picking her up mid poop. I warn you, doing this is a little messy, but I think it gets the point accross!

| oh now it makes sense! My yorkie is really good at going to the litter box, he still has some accidents every now and then but most of the time uses it. He pees in the box but poops on the newspaper under the box! Its funny he goes right in to pee but when it comes to pooping he will jump in and out of the box like 4 times and sniff all around it then just poop on the paper. So if what you said is true about them not peeing and pooping in the same place then that explains it! Its fine with me aslong as hes not going on the carpet! Were hoping to get him going outside once it gets nice out and just have the litter box be used when were not home and he has to go. |

| Are your steps usually out of your sight when he poops there? I had similar problems - Bailey would pee on the pads, but then he'd go and poop on my carpet! My vet said they like privacy to poop, so I created an area where he can do it "privately" but on a puppy pad! It's worked for me! ~Kelley |
