| Some advice to choose my puppy Hello! I will be buying a yorkie pup soon and I would like some of your expert or experience help . I have been speaking with this breeder and he told me the mom weight was 6 pounds and the dad weighted 9... I know that is slightly over the standard weight. Another thing is that all the puppies have white on their chests some more some less... the parents of the puppies don't have white though and the older brother I saw doesn't have one either they all are blue and gold. Please help with that. Also I would like to know if by the picture I am sharing you can tell me if the pup is a pure yorkie or might be a mix (I make this question mainly because of allergies, I've been around Yorkies and they do not affect me). Also if you can tell by the pic if the puppy will be silky or cotton coated. Thanks in advance! Last edited by CGrace; 02-28-2017 at 03:28 PM. |

| The Yorkie's weight can fluctuate just like people's, it's quite possible he is just Fat! Lol! The standard is only in play if the dog is being fed the perfect amount of food. White on the chest is common, it will usually fade away or be absorbed into the gold/tan. My guy hade a little white star that completely faded away. It's actually said to indicate the dog will have a lot of thick hair, which was true in my case. They look to be more on their way to be silky but it's ultimately a waiting game, I thought my puppy might have been a cotton coat but his coat just changed and now it parts down the center and flows in the wind. They look like yorkie pups to me though, very Cute! Unfortunately a lot of yorkie mixes look a lot like yorkies too. Has your breeder given you any reason to doubt thathat the pups are purebred? Are there other small breeds in the home? Last edited by rjwalt; 02-28-2017 at 09:17 PM. |

Thank you so much for the information! The puppy standing is actually the puppy I am choosing from the litter ^.^ Nope he owns 4 yorkies that I know of, and he has been very honest regarding the weight of the fathers and I know this one is the third litter of the mom. I just wanted to know from people here who know more of the breed than I do, you know for the allergies I wanted a second opinion than my own limited one haha. In the pic the puppy is one month old, I will pick him up in a month from now, I have researched about how to take care of the breed so I hope I become a good owner for him, I work at home so he will probably get tired of me lol. He will be sent to me through plane because there are no Yorkies where I live. Is a one hour plane so I am guessing he will be comfortable | |

| The weight of the parents seem healthy, as they should always be over 5lbs for breeding. Both my babies had a white chest. As another mentioned, that usually fades. The puppy pictures are super cute! Most purebred and yorkie mixes will look like Yorkies as puppies. The 'mix' part doesn't really show until they're older. The only way to know for sure is to know what the parents, grandparents, etc look like. And I agree, the adults coats will change from whatever the puppy coat is. Congrats on picking your puppy!! Fun (and tiring) times ahead!! Yay!!
