| I used to get it years ago, it's got a lot to do with showing. There's many breeders that advertise, but it's pretty informative, they also do have good articles. I don't know what the format is today but there weren't many colored pics when I received it back in the 80's. I was thinking about ordering it again, but it is pretty pricey...

| Funny~ today I was looking on the net for those Yorkie magazines that they sell like at Petsmart, and Petco, up by the checkouts they usually have all the different breeds and they are ususally about 10.00 a magazine, but pretty thick.. I'm wondering if this is the same thing? Anybody know if it is, or how I can order one of those? Should have bought one when I saw them.

No, its a different magazine. The ones sold at like Petco are geared more towards Pet owners. Ive noticed they usually have breeders that are trying to sell "Tcups" and tinies. The other magazine, like someone else said is more about showing. Lots of full color show pics, *really* good articles, good way to learn about different kennels/breeders. I loved it. Ive owned the more showy YT magazine, and only skimmed through the other pet YT magazine, and although Im a pet owner, with no intentions of showing *right now*, I really liked the showy YT mag. I think its a waste of money when you have Yorkietalk RIGHT here, for free I would recommend the pet YT mag to someone new to the breed, though. Im assuming your talking about this mag: http://www.dogworld.com/dogworldmag/.../yorkshire.asp This is the other Showy YT mag I like: http://yorkshire-terrier.com/tyt/

| I just received my first copy of The Yorkshire Terrier Magazine. I emailed them with my subscription request and then faxed my credit card info to them late last week. I was very surprised when my copy of the magazine arrived in the mailbox today! It was great to have something good to read while waiting for a doctor's appointment that seemed it would never happen (an hour and fifteen minute wait!). It is geared towards breeding to better the breed and showing. There are not a ton of articles in the magazine but the few that are there are worth reading. My favorite today was an article on selecting a stud. It really opened my eyes to plenty. It was a coincidence that I had been wondering the last few days if I should begin my search for a good stud for when I'm ready to breed Crissy (if she continues maturing as I hope).

| Yorkshire Terrier Magazine I have been purchasing THE YORKSHIRE TERRIER MAGAZINE for over a year now, but now I must subscribe...yes it's pricey....but very much worth it!!!! Pictures of haircuts are my favorite....especially for my yorkies around the 'stop' area....this area has a tendency to grow downwards on their eyes and I found several ideas what to do with the excess hair...I gave pictures to my groomer and he duplicated the exact cut....now everywhere I take my HoHo almost everyone asks me for the name of my groomer..... a great resource for articles for 'Yorkies w/ bad habits' ...but 'DONT let them know your looking to fix the problem, they'll deny everything! |
