| Merrick… Back country Raw Infused Kibble Your thoughts or experience on. Merrick… Backcountry Raw Infused Kibble(made in USA) Raw Infused#1 ingredient- Deboned beef No grain, wheat, corn or gluten ingredients. Freeze dried real meat pieces For appox. 14 months Cody has been eating Natural Balance Limited Ingredients kibble, Bison or Venison, I started him on Chicken appox.2 or 3 months ago. Cody is NOT a picky eater, he eats anything, but he’s a big fan of wet canned food he prefers dry kibble. Cody vacuums up his food, eats so fast. Tuesday morning I set his bowl of chicken down and he walks away, refuses to eat, so I think he’s tired of eating chic for the last couple of months, kinda strange he would tire so quickly because he had been eating bison and venison for many more months then he has chicken. So off to Pet Supplies Plus we go to get bison or venison. I get there, ask do they have Natural Balance LI samples, they have Kangaroo, I get a pkg. give Cody a few pieces, he eats it, ok great, I get 2 bags, come home, mix chic & some Kangaroo kibbles from the sample packet, he doesn’t eat it, offer him plain Kangaroo he refuses, I sprinkle a bit of Parmesan cheese, he eats a few pieces then walks away, I mix in a nice amount of Parmesan cheese, he eats everything. That night and the next morning we go through the samething me ending up putting quite a bit of Parmesan cheese on his food. I go that day and return the kangaroo kibble and get Bison, I know he likes that. That night I offer him chic mixed with bison, he refuses, offer plain bison, he refuses, again I mix a nice amount of Parmesan cheese, he eats everything. I don’t want to be mixing Parmesan cheese in his food every night, this is now how he is use to eating, I figure he's just tired of Natural Balance LI. Today I go to Pet Supplies, ask for another brand of LI kibbles, they show me Merrick grain free and this Raw Infused Kibble. I bought one bag of each in case he didn’t like the grain free I would have the freeze dried as a back up. Tonight I mixed NBLI bison & Merrick beef, grain free, he eats it all and NO Parmesan cheese. Praying tomorrow morning he eats it. My question is has anyone tried the Merrick freeze dried Raw Infused Kibble and did / does your baby like it, should I feed it to Cody.

| Well he ate the Merrick beef grain free this morning, AFTER NBLI mixed with Parmesan cheese. I would like some in put of the Merrick… Backcountry Raw Infused Kibble, it's the freeze dried raw meat that concerns me.

| What if you googled it and asked if it was indeed a good product to feed him or could get reviews on it from online? Would that be of any help? I know nothing about the product myself. Hope you find your answers Joan.

| Seems no one feeds their pups Merrick, no big deal, he's eating the Merrick grain free one so I'll just take the freeze dried bag back. It was for back up only. Thanks Sherri for the suggestion.

| A lot of people don't feed Merrick because they have had a number of recalls on their treats. I don't know much about their foods. There are a number of companies that have freeze dried raw. Many people feed it with great success, but it's a topic that brings with it a diversity of opinions. Nature's Variety has kibble that has pieces of raw in it and kibble that is also coated with raw. Orijen, Nature's Variety, Honest Kitchen and Primal offer freeze dried raw food. I think you'd be best asking about freeze, dried raw instead, and you'll get more answers. You can ask about Merrick there, as well.

| I forgot to mention Stella and Chewy's for freeze dried raw. You could use any kibble and shred some freeze dried raw to enhance the kibble. Freeze Dried Dog Food - Free shipping at Chewy.com Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Grain-Free Chicken Meal Formula Dry Dog Food, 23.5-lb bag

| Thank you Lisa, I'm not looking to feed freeze dried, I only bought it as a back up for the Merrick grain free, in case Cody wouldn't eat that I got the freeze dried as a back up. I didn't know there were recalls on Merrick treats, I stayed away from the Blue Buffalo because of recalls. I want to feed limited ingredients, I shop mostly at Pet Supplies Plus, what they had in limited was the Natural Bal. which Cody stopped eating, Blue Buffalo and Merrick grain free. I have a Pet Smart also, I'll go there see what they have in limited ingredients. Thank you for letting me know about Merrick treat recall, I'm going to stop feeding him the Merrick. All the ppl that read this thread must not know about the treat recall, if they did I am sure someone would have mentioned it unless they feel treats have nothing to do with kibble, see how we learn from others threads. Again, thank you for the Merrick info.

| I didn't want to discourage you from feeding the food, but I thought it might help you to be aware of why some people stay away from Merrick. There were several recalls, most which were a few years ago, but I'd want to do some research about safety now and how they handle recalls. I looked back and a couple of things were scary to me, mainly how they handled the recalls. They might be,different now, but I don't know. It was just bought out last month by Nestle's Purina, but it will operate independently. FDA Warning Letter to Merrick | Truth about Pet Food
