This must be your first Yorkie? Yorkies are KNOWN to be more difficult to house train....they are very stubborn and you can expect to spend quite some time housetraining your puppy. You have to be "bloody, bold, and resolute"!!!! It is going to take, on your part, consistance, persistance, diligence, and rigid determination. You may get lucky and get your baby housebroken quickly, but that is the exception to the rule!! Take a deep breath, get some books on housebreaking Yorkies, and settle in for the long haul! You MAY be pleasantly surprised......

Luckily for me the breeder had already started with the training!! I use pee pads and he goes outside!!! It is very helpful that he knows both, because yesterday it rained for like 6 hours and neither one of us wanted to go out in that!!!! So he used the pee pads inside since the weather was icky!!! He still has an accident once in a while now but he is learning, so it does take a lot of patience but you will get there !!!

I have a 6 mo. old. He is excellently pee pad trained since he was 4 mos. or so. A crate helped marvelously with that. However, I am not sure that he is pooh potty trained yet. He still appears to go wherever he happens to be standing at the time of the urge. I try to use a routine, and he usually does pooh outside, because that's where we happen to be at that time. I think he has a cue he gives me when he needs to potty, but I haven't figured it out yet. We'll get there, just takes a while

Mine pee pad trained really fast. But they were doing it at the breeders. Trainong to go outside is a challenge with Winnie...Moki by 1 yr he was 100% outside or run to the pad if nobody is home....Dunno about Winnie ...shes ~23 weeks also.So imo if they can be 90% peed pad by 23 wks ..thats success. imo

Bella is 2 yr 3 months and it been the last 3month that I would say I feel confident that she has finally got the full idea of it. About 3 months ago she went backwards on the whole training thing. I caught her in the act a couple of times and with a bit of a loud voice "bella what are you doing" I then picked her up gently and placed her gently on her pad with nothing more said. It was after that that It all seemed to kick in.

I had Teddy pee pad trained at 4 months (we got him at 3 months). BUT, I was incredibly strict with him and it was exhausting. Even so, had he not had his particular personality/temperament, it may have taken longer no matter how I approached training. I think your dog will get the hang of it sooner rather than later. They learn a lot of things all at once and not necessarily in the order we wish them to learn. Hang in there!! Six months is still a baby!
