YT 1000 Club Member | Congrats and Welcome! I was handed a 9 year old Yorkie 3 months ago and what a blessing he has been to my life! I hope that is how you feel 3 months from now. My advice is to get her used to your routine immediately. Love her and enjoy the ride. I hope she gets as attached to you as my little man is to me. Jade and Teek

I love my little man so much! He is so spoiled. We ran into his old owner a couple weeks ago and he wagged his tail a little bit but he didn't do the standing up and pawing to get to him that he does every time he is away from me for more than 2 minutes. He was very happy when I picked him up and told him it was time to go home. The guy told me he was happy to see him so attached to me because he knew he was being loved and cared for with me. Teek just snuggled against my chest and pushed against me which I have come to accept his way of saying that he loves me. He only does it with my daughter and me. You will know when she is settled in and yours. There will be something. Mine was one evening after about 10 days I was sitting in a chair that reclines just a little bit and he wanted in my lap and I picked him up. He laid against me with his head on my shoulder and slept for nearly 2 hours. I knew then that he had accepted that he was mine and it was awesome. Good luck and enjoy her!!!! I am glad you found her so much younger than I found mine. My only regret with Teek is that I met him when he was 9 instead of when he was 6, or better yet 3. I love him though.

| That is so sweet!!!!! i can't wait til she does all that.....she already snuggles with me and sleeps with me.....gave her a blanket today to call her own......she loves it!!!! Gave her a bath, she is still a hot mess. Need to get her in to the groomers to cut it all off.....it's definitely a winter coat!!!! her hair wants to frizz too so will have to talk to the groomers about that..... |

| But I do have another question. She came to me with some clothes that has the smell of her former home. She won't move off of them, seems very depressed. Should I leave them or wash them or what????? Not sure what to do..... |

| Add a T-shirt or blanket that has YOUR smell on it....I wouldnt just take the other stuff away all at once....gradually, a piece at a time, over several days....give her time to get used to YOUR smell. My mentor, who has been breeding Yorkies for close to 40+ years, would say,"Remove the old reminders of past life and put something with YOUR scent on it for baby to get used to....I also always recommend the book, Yorkies For Dummies....it is super and you will use it forever!!
