My 1 year old yorkie won't poop outside Hello all, I am new to this site! I was hoping to get some help! I just got a 1 year old yorkie 2 weeks ago and ever since I had him he has been so great! Not one pee accident in the house, poop on the other hand is a different story. For some weird reason he will not poop outside. Every day he finds a way to scurry somewhere private, like my closet or under my bed to leave his business. I have tried to pick up the poop and place it outside and show him that's where it goes but he is totally not interested and doesn't pay attention. Any advice on how to get my little guy to go poop outside? Thanks in advance!

I read once that when you dog goes inside, you should not let your pup see you pick up the poo. Another idea is to take some of the poo and bring it outside where you want him to go. Maybe you can just bring him back to basics. I limited Dink to the kitchen until he was fully trained. When he got careless with the poo, someone on this site recommended to go back to square one. It goes faster. Also ,now that your dog is older and wiser, he will catch on quickly. Dinky was very reluctant to poo outside. I started training him at 5 months and the training went on for a full two months. He would still do a poo in the house occasionally after that. To this day, we praise the heck out of him when he does his poo outside. I'm not faking it, I am very happy that he does this! Good luck. It's frustrating!

My Monty goes in a Litter box. Previous owners started training him on this and he has done amazing. It can get pretty cold here and he doesn't like to go out in that kind of weather . It sure makes it so much easier on us. Not sure if that is an option for you. We have a spray that we used to spray the area we wanted him to go in and put training pads around the area as well and sprayed them. Then also praised him when he would go in those areas.
