Places that allow dogs/Vacations

Is there a list somewhere that tells where places will allow dogs? I want to plan a vacation for my son and I with the dogs. It would be nice to know what hotels and stores will allow you to bring your pet with you. If its out there could someone tell me where to look? We have no specific destination in mind, lol. Just time for a much needed break from routine. We live in NJ, so there are lots of places we can drive to. I've considered a cruise, but haven't checked to see if dogs are allowed.

DogFriendly.com® - Pet Travel Guides and City Guides for Dog/Pet Owners is a very helpful sight. I am not very familiar with east coast dog friendly but I would suggest some place warm enough for outdoor seating at restaurants.

Perfect!! Exactly what I was looking for. Yes, thats the type of thing I was thinking of Shelbysmom. Low key and I don't have to do anything, but eat, sleep, and relax with the puppy and my son.

I've taken Lola outlet shopping.
Peddler's Village in PA is dog friendly, but it's better to go when they're doing a contest (scarecrows, gingerbread houses).

Be careful with dog friendly beaches, there are a lot of big off leash dogs and sand fleas.

bring fido is a decent site for hotels, too - when we are traveling we always bring our pup and I use that site to find places in a pinch if we decide to do a quick overnight somewhere along the way to our main destination.

Thank you. Well, there is an app for that! I just got the app to bring fido on my phone from the iTunes store..lol. Looks like there are plenty of places I can bring the pups.

I work for a cruise line and they usually don't allow dogs. Cunard line does (Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth) but they are pricy, and you have to keep them in the kennel on board, not in your stateroom.
Good luck and happy vacationing though! I love to travel with mine and more places are becoming dog friendly.

We are going to Mackinac Island, MI this summer, and taking Oliver with us. It's supposed to be one of the most dog friendly places. We'll find out I guess. LOL

Check the state parks website for wherever you want to go. I know that Tennessee state parks allow dogs. I also think that national forests allow dogs, but not national parks.

All on leash, of course.

We'll be there 6/29-7-2. The first is our anniversary.
It sounds like a wonderful place. We'll be staying on the mainland and taking the ferry to the island two days. There is so much to see on the island and the mainland!

Mackinaw Island is awesome! Just remember that there are more horses than people living on the island. Make sure your dog doesn't bark at every horse it sees or it will be a very long day. If I were to take Teek there with me, I would be carrying him most of the day because not only are they horses, they are all HUGE draft horses and seriously they could step on a yorkie so easily. However, a dog like Teek would be great because he never barks at anything and he would be on my arm all day except when I find a nice grassy place for him to play on a leash away from horses hooves.

I took my kids to Mackinaw a couple summers ago and we had a blast. We drove up there for the day from where we were staying with relatives and drove back home that night. Made for a very long day, but it was okay because we had so much fun! The horse drawn tour was my favorite, but we must have walked several miles that day.

I've never been there, and I think I'm the only person in the country that hadn't heard of it. LOL I have a stroller for Oliver, and a bag. We're working on him now, getting him used to different things. There are so many things we want to see! It's about 8 hours from here.
