| Yorkie coloring Has anybody seen a yorkie this color at 3 weeks old? Sorry, I'm not sure about exact color names but the parents are both the light tan heads with light silver/blue bodies. The two other puppies in the litter are the average tan and black colors. But this one is black with dark brown (not a lot of it) and has a white spot on his chest and a tiny spot of it on his back feet. You can't tell from the picture but his feet are dark brown (or tan?) as well. I am just curious if he will stay this dark? I didn't really want an all black one. |

| I have never had any pups that dark at three weeks. Are both parents full blooded yorkies?

| I would bet that he stays dark. His tan might lighten up some. You just never know. Regardless, they are both adorable.

| Both pups are adorable, but I must agree with bjh, I have never seen a 3 week old pup that dark. It's all in the generics, a roll of the dice. I don't think anyone would know what color he would be as an adult. You could try asking the breeder for photo's of the sire and dams parents, did you see the puppies parents.

| Both parents are full blooded yorkies, AKC registered. The breeder has never had one this dark either and is not sure. Should I change to another puppy? They look huge in this picture but are actually average sized. Last edited by Leann4417; 08-17-2014 at 01:24 AM. |

| It depends on what color you like, if you don't mind a darker yorkie, then take the all black. I LOVE the black body hair with the tan / blond face, so I would take the chance and get the black puppy hoping he will stay black, If you prefer the grey body hair then take the other puppy. You will still have a charming, big attitude, full of personality, lil clown 100% pure breed yorkie. There is no guarantee that black puppy will remain pure black as an adult. Good luck deciding which pup to take. I could never view 2 pups and have to decide which one to take, I would end up taking both lol, I am very weak when it comes to puppies lol.

| I have always had yorkies growing up and I have never ran into this problem getting one! I was unsure if this meant something strange or if it was a normal color. After searching I have found very few. I saw the grandparents to the puppy as well. They are all beautiful. I wanted to get the black but my husband is a little unsure! I am going to take a chance and hope he turns out with at least a little color! He was the one I immediately went to. |

| When you say stay dark do you mean all over or just his body? His face surely should have another color if he is purebred? Correct? |

| I am sure this is meant for bjh, but I will put in my 2 cents lol. If you had yorkies all your life you know as puppies their color changes as they grow into adults, I don't believe his face will stay black, it is so hard to guess what color they will be as adults. I am sure he will have a lighter face, it's just hard to guess. I am glad you stayed with your first choice, this dark one, I don't think you'll be disappointed with his color, and if he stays darker then standard color then you will have a very unique lil yorkie, maybe a "one of a kind" something to be proud of, I know I would be. Unless your plans were of showing him, Please keep us updated this will be interesting to see what color he is as an adult.
