| How much do your yorkies drink? Chloe never finishes her little bowl of water and since I wash her bowls every morning I end up throwing out the water that was there for the day before. She has never finished the bowl of water, even if I put some ice in it to make it cool for her. She doesn't even drink after her breakfast. Is this normal? The water bowl is a tiny stainless steel cat bowl. She does drink but not a lot. Is it possible she doesn't like her water bowl?

| Dogster.com says on its website that normally a healthy dog needs 1/2 to 1 oz. of water per pound of body weight so you could measure out her optimal limit for the day and see how much of that she drinks in a day. My Tibbe has small matching bowls that hold just about 10 liquid ounces and his water is changed twice daily. Some days there isn't much missing and other days, it's almost half gone when I wash and refill the bowl. He eats a mixture of canned food and kibble and his treats consist of moistened, refrigerated kibble so he gets some water in his food during the day. | Lola has a small glass bowl downstairs and a small stoneware bowl upstairs, I'm not sure exactly how much she drinks but it does vary a lot from day to day. She also eats some wet food and vegetables. She might not like the stainless steal, I'd try giving her glass and ceramic to see which she likes best. |

| after Cody's surgery he wasn't drinking any water, I made chicken broth to mix in with his water to get him drink, that worked, after a week I gave him tap water, which is what he drank from the day I adopted him, he wouldn't drink, I bought several brands of bottled water, some brands gave him diarrhea, Poland Spring water worked out, so that's what he now drinks. I gave him 1/2 a cup several times a day. I measured what he didn't drink. Cody is 3 y/o, weighs 12 lbs and drinks 1 cup of bottled water a day. Maybe your pup doesn't like tap water. Try buying small bottles of spring water, see if she'll drink that, if she does measure 1/4 cup and give to her each time you change her water, what she doesn't drink measure it then you'll know how much water she's drinking in a day, yeah, it's a bit of work, but I am paranoid and overly protective and concerned about his water and food intake. His drinking bowls holds 1/2 cup of water so no more measuring. Good luck.

| lol she's just a silly quirky lil girl, bottle water is good, as I wrote measure it out, she just a baby so give her 1/4 cup, measure what she doesn't drink, do this each time you give her water. I had to try several diff. bottled water until I found the one he would drink. Could be she's not crazy about the bottle water you have her on, just as a heads up, changing water is almost like changing food, she can get diarrhea if you suddenly change water, like food it should be done slowly , mix new water with old water until she is on only the new water. Unless Cody is an odd ball, he had reactions to diff, brands of water, like diarrhea ,when I realized this I started the mixing of one brand to another. When ever I go out I always take a bottle of HIS water, my friends think I am pampering him, so I have to tell them he'll get diarrhea on just one bowl of diff. water. Good luck

| We always have bowls of fresh water for the pets and hard to gauge how much George drinks, water is fresh everyday. Whenever I start to worry that he hasnt drunk for a while he goes and has a big drink so have learnt not too fret too much. When he is off colour I watch him like a hawk because he will dehydrate quickly.
