| Yorkie Coloring I tried doing a search, but didn't find any real results that matched. I have my new lil baby (9 weeks) and she is just the most precious thing. I am in love with her little black and tan teddy bear face. When I took her to go potty earlier (and looked at her head from a birds eye view), I freaked out for a moment because I thought she was going bald! Upon closer inspection, I've realized that the hair is just growing in a grey, almost whitish color, from the roots, with black still on the ends. Does this mean her head will eventually turn solid grey? Or is it too hard to predict at this early of a stage? I know that it will just take some getting used to, but how much longer will I have her little puppy look? I don't want her to grow up too fast!

| Not alone I'm glad I'm not alone!!! I thought the SAME thing about Baby. I thought she was going bald. It does look like that doesn't it? Baby is almost 17 weeks old, and she too is turning grey. Not sure what that means, but wanted to let you know my Yorkie is going through the same changes.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | They turn grey/silver on their heads but eventually it turns to tan/gold. Don't worry that's perfectly normal. They all change at different rates.

| Yorkie colouring The proper colouring for Yorkies is to be born black and tan. As they mature, colour changes just as you have seen. There will likely be further changes on the black with it changing to a steel blue or can go light all the way to a silver. Furnishings should be a shaded tan but some will not be shaded staying quite dark and again some furnishings will lighten all the way to a light blonde colour. Some can stay the black and tan but the head should go to the tan or gold. Usually by the time they are about 2 years old, the colour you see is what it is. Lorraine Loriben Yorkies |

And thanks to everyone else for their input on the topic! Gosh....it's crazy to think that it will be two years before she's fully matured into her coat! That's kind of exciting!
