| 1st time Yorkie Mommy! I just got a new Yorkie puppy and im already in love! She is 10 weeks old and some. She was gifted to me by a friend that had Yorkie puppies and could no longer keep the puppies. Ive Never had a Yorkie... Althoughh ive been so excited reading up on Yorkies, now that she's home, im a blank... I feel that nothing i read up on fits... lol. Im a wreck!!! First, i feel like she is so hyper... When i hold her, she tries to jump out of my had.. Wont stay still or relax or nap... Im worried this is just her personality and she wont let me carry her... Second, when playing w her i feel she's not responding.. Like she doesnt hear me... I find myself testing her all the time w noises... I call her w noises and try to get her attention but she doesnt even look up. Third her eyes are always so wet and teary... Is this ok? The other pups didnt.. Am i overly worried??? lol She's had her shots up to date, vet saw her last week.. But i wasnt there so are these things i need to ask specifically in order for him to check it out? Also, i have NO idea how to train a puppy... Is it too early to sign her up for Petco's Puppy 1 class??? Is it worth it? Anyone done it??? Ive attached a pic of my Victoria |

| Welcome. Victoria is adorable. Sounds like normal puppy behavior. I'm sure some more experienced members will have lots of advice. This is a great site. I learn new info almost everyday.

| welcome to YT, yorkies are a energetic, hyper breed, jumping off you, not wanting to beheld, for a 10 week old baby is not uncommon. She is new to the world, wants to run and play,do not worry about naps, she will sleep when she is tired. The not responding to noise, is a concern to me. I have had many puppies that have always responded to noise. I cannot offer help on this, teary eyes, again, none of my pups went through this. Soon you will get an abundance of answers to these concerns of yours from members who are medically savvy on these issues. When in doubt, always ask, you will always be answered on YT. Good luck with lil new lil baby girl.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | WELCOME to YT! She is just adorable . If you truly think she may have hearing issues, I'd definitely have the vet check this next time you go in for shots. Otherwise, this might just be normal puppy behavior. Her eyes may be teary bc she is teething...the teary eyes may come and go throughout puppyhood as she intermittently goes thru teething. As for the puppy class idea - GREAT idea, it'd be really good for you both. Just make sure you don't enroll her until she has completed her puppy shots.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Hello and to YT. "Yorkies For Dummies" is the first one I recommend."Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" is the second book. These are excellent resource books. And we have a great amount of info here.

| Hi and welcome to you both. Oh, how I wish I had just a fraction of the energy my two had as pups. They would go like Tasmanian devils, then all of a sudden stop and go to sleep, just to wake up and start over again. Yes, teething can cause runny eyes but I too would be worried about not hearing sounds that should definitely be checked out. It could be nothing, maybe she hasn't become accustom to her name or she may be too busy to bother. But, I would definitely get it checked. As for her trying to jump out of your arms, get down on the floor at first and play with her. With mine I crawled around like a big dog (ok people stop laughing) and they would run to lick my face and try to get me to play. As for puppy classes, Bubba went to class. There were all sizes of dogs in the class. I wished I had checked the roster to see if there were a good amount of smaller dogs. Most were labs and retrievers and really rambunctious but it is up to the trainer to keep control and the owners to do the assignments. Victoria is a little cutie.
