| Flea Season! (yay..) So it's that time of year when all the jerk fleas come out to ear our furbaby's This is Logan's first spring. I'm curious what type of flea/tick prevention products you all use and how often? He's been pretty much an indoor pup since we got him in the middle of a brutal winter, but I want to start letting him play in our yard. We live right near the woods so we have all kinds of insect guests in our yard! I want to get him something good. I've heard great things about Advantix, but I figured I'd ask my fellow yorkie-parents what you all like to use? also where do you buy from? So many options out there! I just want to make sure I get something good for him. He's 5 1/2 months old now.

| Rotten fleas! We use Frontline Plus and split an individual dose between the 2 boys.

Yeah I was curious about how much to use (of any of them) because of how small yorkies are haha! Does Frontline Plus take care of ticks too? We have deer ticks around here so I worry about that

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I hate fighting those fleas and ticks. I have used Revolution in the past with not problems. I will start researching the web again to see if that is what I will use. People walk into the pet store and just pick any ole poison and wind up making their dogs sick. Please be careful whatever you use. You are wise to ask us Yorkie lovers because we are very cautious with our babies. This stuff is down right poison. If it makes my dog vomit I do not give it. If they go crazy I will not give it. Someone needs to come up with a Natural solution for these dog gone fleas! |

| Hmm okay so I'm looking up all of these different brands. People seem partial to K9 Advantix. I'm wondering, with these topical solutions, could I split up a dose? He's so small and still growing and it seems as though they only come in standard (BROAD) weight ranges. Even the one "for small dogs" a full dose might be too much for him. At that rate, would it make sense to buy a pack for larger dogs and dose him appropriately for his weight with a needle-less syringe? I'm read a bunch of mixed reviews. Some folks say they do that, while others say it's crazy and they'd never! haha I'm just figuring it makes sense scientifically. It's the same chemical in the large-dog size as the small dog size, just a different dose, right?

| Ok so I think we're going to go with K9 Advantix. It seems to have a lot of great reviews. I'm still wondering if it would be okay to measure out 0.4ml (the small dog dose) from a larger dog dose. They all cost about the same give or take a few bucks, but the larger doses come with much more product that I figure would last a lot longer. Anyone have any input? Have you done this?

Yeah actually. Someone else recommended that to me. I'm just more comfortable with topical prevention. Comfortis is a pill I believe, right?

| Yes it is and I heard the topicals can be a pain in the butt because yorkies have long fur and it runs down there sides and back and then they can lick it and rub it off. I would rather use a pill for mine..its safer and less mess in my opinion. Im looking into a flea and tick/heartworm prevention called Sentinel. |

| Ive talked with 2 local vets who said Frontline and Advantage have stopped working (around here). One uses Revolution, one uses Parastar |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I used Revolution with no problems on my two boys. I will probably do that again. I take them in to the vet for a heartworm test and then the vet will call Petmeds and order the stuff for me. |

| I use revolution on my yorkie and all my kitties, here in Cali advantage and frontline do not work on the fleas here anymore. I like my vet because they has a pharmacy as well, so I just order as needed and have it mailed directly to my home from the vet. |
