Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Growing up with a teenage Yorkie Crystal has been on her first 'season' for two weeks now. The flow seemingly stopped after a week, but her vulva is still swollen and tender. Her appetite rote has altered significantly too. Most mornings she now misses breakfast altogether, but harangues Dad for his toast and melted cheese etc. This morning all had gone quiet - a bad thing with a 7lb bundle of dynamite! She'd made her way into the front lounge, which is normality shut off when she's unattended. We have a 'Soft Toy Yorkie', sitting on a sofa, a present from friends when Crystal come to live with us last June. She was very busy gripping this effigy (which is more or less her size), in between her front legs, whilst attempting a 'retro hump maneuver' - the best description I can give really? After a few frustrating minutes she tossed the limpid creature in the air by it's neck and walked away head in the air, accompanied by much reverse snorting! Although it was definitely a 'locker room moment' in her development, I didn't laugh, but respected the wonder of nature and her endeavour to try and make babies. All together a bitter sweet episode of comedy and bathos. |

| Ahh....the woes of becoming a women. I guess there are a few perks to having boys!! LOL!! My female cocker wasn't spayed until later in life and we had to make doggie diapers for her(back then, you couldn't buy them) so she didn't leave spots all over the house. She always acted a little off while the hormones were coursing through her body. She didn't know what to do with herself. Their natural animal instinct to mate sometimes takes over their domesticated self. I guess you could say their little brain is taking over the big brain and the poor little gals often don't know whether they are coming or going. |

She clings to her mom at the moment and many of her regular little habits have gone by the way, she's not at all herself really. I think I'll have her spayed as their seems good evidence that the health benefits outweigh the risks. Within a domesticated environ, this interludes seems quite stressful for her too, even though it's all perfectly natural of course. My wife wants her to breed one litter, but knowing us we'd hate to part with any of them! | |

| I think the first heat is hardest for them. Next one may be a bit less stressful. Mine turns into a little hussy, lol!
