YT 2000 Club Member | Help me with this problem...... I need some suggestions or help with this problem. Tatiana will be 8 months next week. Her hair is a medium length and long enough on top for a pony tail. My problem is that it is so thin and I think the elastic bands are breaking her hair off because it is really short in spots. What do I do? I have tried just tiny barrettes, clips are too heavy and fall out. Covered elastic bands, even the smallest ones won't stay in! I really don't want to cut it and it is long enough that it hangs in her eyes. I love it when her hair is up in a pony tail with a bow. Please, if anyone has suggestions is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance as I am sure I will get tons of wonderful advice!

| What kind of bands are you using? I buy mine from Jenny/Mimimomo at toplinepet.com Good bands are less damaging than the ones you find at the store. When you take them out, use a band cutter or small pair of scissors. Don't pull them out. We use the mini scrunchies from WalMart or BowBiz, but they were too big before the boys grew thicker topknots after 1 year of age. Little barrettes work for some doggies, but I worry my boys would try swallow them. Too much of a choking hazard if they fall out. You can also use Vellus satin creme to help thicken the topknot hair, condition it to prevent breakage. I bought mine directly through the Vellus website.

YT 2000 Club Member | I am using the bands by Jenny! When ever I put one in...even when I leave it loose, she will try to rub it out or it falls out by itself. I have small clips the stay in pretty well. I got them from PetCo a while back. I am just worried about the breakage.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Have you tried these: Goody 12Ct Small Heart Contour Clips : Target I use these for Pfeiffer sometimes - her hair on the very top of her head is SO silky, I can't get much to stay in it. But these clips are tiny and work pretty well. They're in the hair section at Target, in the little girls area.

| I use the small scrunchies - Cali is almost 5 years old and has a long fairly thicket top knot. They do not break or damage her hair and we use them daily - I do loosen them at night. We use the better elastic ones for fancy do's!

| The heart clippies that Ann linked are awesome! I have them for Rosie and the are teeny enough for her little head and I had no problem growing out the hairs at the corners of her eyes. I just use a madan mustache comb for her topknot and put it up in a baby scrunchie, then use the heart clip for any hairs too short for the topknot. There is also a madan topknot gel that you can use for flyaways and it won't make it crunchy. Mimimomo sells it.

| I would try lining the tiny clips with felt by hot gluing it on the inside to the shape of the clips. As a hair stylist I have made a ton of clips like this, for babies that have very fine hair and not much of it :-) you can buy thin felt from any craft store, then just cut it to the shape of the clip and glue on each side inside the clips. It's really gentle and. The hair does not slip due to the texture of the felt :-) hope this helps <3 I don't have much yorkie advice yet lol, but lots about doing very fine thin hair haha. |
