| Question about the ears. Do you always keep the hair on the ears short? Last time I took Louie to get groomed they didnt cut the hair on his ears and now it is getting reallllly long,. Is that ok? or should I cut it. I mean on the outside of the ear not the inside. Thanks all! |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | the hair inside the ears should be pulled out. It's not as bad as it seems and they have the powder to dry out the ears and makes it easier to pull out. Moisture can get down there and cause yeast infections, etc. If you notice a nasty odor in the ears, you need to take them to the vet. Could be mites or an infection.

| Most people like the outside of the ears to be cut because it helps to keep the ears up. The weight of the hair will keep the ears down which to me is cute too. But if you want the ears to stand up- cutting the hair does help. Either way- Yorkie are da bomb! and mine did not stand up until I did cut them!

| I trim the hair about a third of the way down the ear. It is a personal preference as I do not like the pics I see that makes the ears look huge. If you want to see different looks, get a Yorkie calender and you will see all different looks. The dogs from Europe, Ireland and the UK all seem to have long air in their pics. And, shaving does help keep the ears in the proper position... |
