HELP: Is she a YORKIE? I just brought a 11 month old female yorkie She currently weighs 10 pounds. Standing next to my male yorkie who is 6 pounds i'm starting to question her real origin. Can someone please take a look at the silver and black female and let me know what you think.

Where did you get her? You buy her as a purebreed? She looks like a Yorkie to me just the breeding wasn't very selective.

Can you give me a example of selective breeding?

YT Young Pup | She could be a purebred, but if so maybe a poorly bred yorkie. But she's a rescue enjoy and cherish her!! If you would like to really know you could take her to the vet and get her a DNA test done like one on another thread.

For example. PPL who show dogs. Bred puppys for there next show dog. They pick the dogs that match Conformation standards. With all the health checks. So they match there dogs with other dogs. Then theres breeders who just pump out puppies and don't care if they match standard or not. All puppies are cute, They will sell them and make $$. Then theres ppl who just want puppies and if the see another Yorkie they will mate them to have puppies no health check or whatever. Then responsible ppl have there dogs altered and don't try to bred them. Basically theres ppl who do a good job and ppl who don't know how. But you rescued your dog enjoy her she will love you.

She looks like a Yorkie to me--I like the beautiful silky hair. If you have any doubts or are just curious, you could have her DNA breed purity tested.
