YT 500 Club Member | First time grooming My puppy Sophie is matting so easily. I don't remember my other dog matting like this as a pup. Are there any products anyone can recommend for me to try to help ward off the evil mats? |

| First I want to say Welcome to YorkieTalk, Sophie's a real cutie! I really like the Isle of Dog Silky Coating Brush Spray to prevent Yazmin from getting mats. It works and smells great too. I found that using the proper brush and comb was just as important to keep it from breaking or matting also. The Madan Pin Brushes and Combs are fantastic and work great on Yazmin's coat. We have members here on YT who have stores and carry these wonderful products for our babies. YT member (Maximo) has a store called W.Fieldsforpets and carries the IOD Brush Spray. Isle of Dogs Silky Coating Brush Spray YT member (mimimomo) has a store called Toplinepet and carries the Madan Brushes and Combs. toplinepet.com The ladies will be happy to answer any questions you may have about their products and are wonderful to work with also. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Carla gave you good advice. I use Madan brushes and combs and have found them to be well worth the few extra dollars they cost. They are well made with smooth barb free teeth that glide through hair. Before we had spray on detanglers we used corn starch. We massaged it into the matt and picked it apart. Make grooming a daily ritual and a time to bond. Daily combing will help with the matting and tangles. Don't forget to check feet, teeth, ears and rear end during grooming. Teaching a puppy to allow this touching makes , nail trimming, teeth brushing and butt trims easy. So glad you found YT, we can't wait to ge to know you.
