They are well made with smooth barb free teeth that glide through hair. Before we had spray on detanglers we used corn starch. We massaged it into the matt and picked it apart.
Make grooming a daily ritual and a time to bond. Daily combing will help with the matting and tangles. Don't forget to check feet, teeth, ears and rear end during grooming. Teaching a puppy to allow this touching makes , nail trimming, teeth brushing and butt trims easy.
