| Do they always "act" like they are in heat? Only reason I ask is because I think Daisy may be..but not because of her actions. I was brushing her and putting her jammies on her earlier, and when I reached down to put them on her, I felt something...and her "you know what" was all puffed out? She isn't acting any different, and I haven't noticed any spotting anywhere? Could it be?

| I see no one has responded to this. I have a spayed female so I personally dont have any experience but from what I have read it sounds like shes in heat.

| I'm not sure - but I think the heat lasts for about 3 weeks, but the spotting is only about a week??

| If your female has not been spayed and her vulva is "puffy" or swollen, with in a few days you will start to see blood spotting. That is, if she is past 4-8 months of age. Once you notice swelling and then spotting, the estrus cycle can and usually does, last another 2- 2 1/2 weeks. You MUST watch her constantly because any intact male will go after her. A very large male of any breed can cause great harm to your baby so do not let her anyhwere that she can be on the floor or ground. Also, if you take her to the home of another person who has a male (usually intact males will mark but so will neutered) you can cause that person a lot of grief. The male in that home will most likely start marking whether you are there or have already left. Any place the scent of a female in estrus is sensed by a male is a place where they will mark.. |

| It sounds like she's in heat or going to be in heat very soon. Usually when they're swollen, blood will soon follow. Kelsey was miserable when she went in heat...and I'm getting her fixed this January so it doesn't happen again.
