| 9 week old Yorkie hasn't pooped since 6 am? Just purchased a standard yorkie last night. He's honestly the cutest thing momma has ever laid eyes on BUT aside from pooping at 9pm last night and a small pellet this morning at 7am, he hasn't gone at all although he has peed like a champ. I'm worried and was wondering if this is normal for puppies? Any response will do he has also eaten less than half a can of food (4 1/2 teaspoons to be exact). Any help would be great! Thank you! I look forward to sharing and reading more Yorkie stories soon |

| I don't know the answer, but I am bumping this so maybe someone else can help. Also, the vet should be open soon, so maybe call and ask them. Sorry, not much help.

| Try holding a warm wash rag on his little bum. Sometimes they get a little dried poo and it is harder for them to go. They don't eat a lot at that age just make sure to feed him every 3 hours.

| We had very similar concerns with our dog the first few days. Our vet told us it was normal for her to have only 2 bowel movements a day. I was concerned because she was eating great all day but would only poo before bed and after getting up, no where in between. After a fews days of regular feedings and drinking water, her stools became more consistant (3 times a day!). When we finally transitioned her completely to kibble, her poops were significantly harder than before and it hurt her to make it. She would cry and cry and strain to go. We checked her bum and her poo was stuck inside. We read online to swab a little bit of vaseline around her, you know, little hole.. and after she tried again, she was able to get it out. Make sure he's drinking plenty of water! She now poops like a champ! Also, like rubymoon asked, is he eating the same food as the breeder? If he isn't, it can wreck all sorts of havoc on his bowels. We gave our dog a little tiny half teaspoon of pumpkin mixed into her wet food/kibble combo every meal to help her transition her food. It made her poo a scary orange color but that was normal. |

| Thank you! I took him to be seen last night and Cuddles is doing great! He went about 4 AM finally and they have changed his food to a special prescription diet until Friday to help him with going to the bathroom. (ID Gastro?) He is such a spunky little thing! He is biting uncontrollably and goes from extremely playful to being a total total mush depending on his energy level. I have fallen in love and want 3-4 more lol (*no time soon though!) | Good to hear he seems to be more regular. Prescription diet so soon? Will this be a long term thing?

| [QUOTE= It made her poo a scary orange color but that was normal.[/QUOTE] Really glad you clarified this as I would have jumped out of my skin if I didn't know pumpkin would do this. Just never thought of it! Thanks again.

| Oh yes, it's...umm...colorful! Once in awhile Lexie gets a bit constipated for no apparent reason, so she gets a little pumpkin til she loosens up. Works like a charm!
