YorkieTalk Newbie! | Dolly Belle needs some advice We are new to the community. We are from SC. Dolly Belle was born Nov 17-2012. She is 7 wks old. She is eating Natural Balance formula-small breed bites. L.I.D.-now she is really constipated what todo? How do I keep her from having contipation in future? I gave her a 4th tsp of cod liver oil, and this helped. She will not drink a lot of water. |

| You need to keep her hydrated! At seven weeks old, she will need frequent small meals throughout the day. You can give her pedialyte instead of water. Maybe you can wet her food, so she will still be getting some hydration in with it. Please be very careful! 7 weeks is REALLY young. A puppy can die from dehydration and may be prone to hypoglycemia. Keep some Nutrical handy or Karo syrup. Syringe water into her mouth if you have to. I would bring her to the vet if she stays constipated. Bumping for others to give you more advice, but please please keep an eye on your little one. Welcome to YT and keep updating us on Dolly Belle!

| Another good idea is go get sweet potato baby food and mix at most maybe a quarter size drop with the food... Sweet potatoes help the puppy GO so to say... And I have yet to hear of a yorkie that did not love sweet potatoes.

| Really happy this thread is helpful. I know it's tough to raise a young 7 week old puppy. Glad there is great help on this forum. |

| 7 weeks old....puppy is still being weaned from momma to Royal Canin Puppy Starter Mousse here at Rosehill at that age........you MUST keep that baby hydrated....I would NOT be feeding strictly dry kibble at this age.....baby needs to be on gruel.....wet that down with water or goats milk, and you can add a little chicken baby food to the mixture....you need to have it the consistancy of a loose pudding....get the Royak Canin Puppy Starter Canned Mousse....highly palpable and VERY nutritious....should be like slop...baby is just learning how to lick stuff up...let him lick it off your finger first, then out of a shallow saucer, not a bowl.....learning LICK, not LAP yet.... |
