| Alternative to Interceptor and Heartgard Hi All! I was wondering if anyone can suggest an alternative to Interceptor and Heartgard. Lilly gets diarrhea every time she has heartgard and so we tried the Interceptor and it worked beautifully for her. I only have one pill left of the Interceptor and I see that it has been recalled/out of production for at least 4 months. Evidently Interceptor is made at the same factory as Excedrin/Bufferin/NoDoz so that is why they halted production similar to Excedrin etc. I really don't want to give Lilly the Heartgard if there is another product that she can use that won't upset her tummy. One alternative I saw was something called Iverhart (I could be misspelling it) but that is the generic for Heartgard so I'd imagine it would have the same effects on her as Heartgard. Any suggestions would be most welcome!! OH, I should also mention that Lilly has MVD, Microvascular dysplasia and she is on medicine to protect her liver and a special low residue diet and "gentle snackers" treats. Not sure if that would factor in but I figured I'd give you all the info!! Thanks. |

| Interceptor is now available from your Vet. Just got 6 month supply, it is back in production. I too like Interceptor for my small dogs. |

| I use Advantage Multi, it's flea, tick, heartworm and intestinal worm all is one application. My vet recommended this. You apply like you do front line. |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | We use Sentinel and have been very pleased with it. I can't get KS to touch the Heartguard. She just will not eat it. I hide the Sentinel is a little piece of cheese and she loves that.

| We use Revolutuion - fleas, ticks, heart worms, and mites treatment. Have never had a problem. Like that it has a dosage for small dogs.

| Interceptor was not recalled the plant that makes it was just shut down and they had no problems with there dog medicines just the humans ones. Production has started again but it might take some time for places to get the meds. I think maybe you should talk to your vet and see what they suggest.
