| I finally did it! :D I let Harley sleep with me all night last night Well until 6am when he started barking at birds, I put him back for two hours after that.... Now my question is, what is your routine for getting them to calm down and go to bed. Once he got to sleep he only moved around a little whenever I rolled over etc, but it took us about an hour and a half to actually get to sleep. Also it was so hot and sticky out last night and he wanted to cuddle in the biggest comforter :S. So what's your advice on getting more shut eye while snuggling with your doggies? We are going away for a week and he may have the opportunity to sleep with me, but I'm not sure yet, but once I get back I intend on letting him sleep with me every night, as when I move in August he will be fully free in the new apartment and sleeping with me every night.

| Haha! Fun, isn't it! He'll get used to going to sleep once the novelty wears off, and the new routine sets in. Maybe try going to bed a little earlier to allow him time to settle in, so you don't lose any sleep....

Hopefully I can transfer that to going to bed in my bed. I'm happy to let him sleep with me from now on, but he has always been good with sleeping in different places. Like he has his own room at home, and when we travel sometimes he sleeps in a room, sometimes an xpen, and sometimes a crate. So he's good that way. The bf is away for two weeks so I made the executive decision that Harley is now sleeping in the bed, lol. I warned him... He simply said he can if he actually sleeps and leaves us alone. Also I'll be living alone when I go to school. So the bed will be lonely.

| I think if you continue with a routine he will adjust. When we say it's time to go to bed, Rosie jumps up and gets in the bed. She knows because this is the routine since she was 6 months old. We always say the same thing too. I think that helps as well. Mikki has to be put in the bed but she goes under the covers and lays down. Once she is down, she doesn't move until I do.

| Tucker that puppy out, but don't let him catch even a quick nap before going to bed after you do. lol Mine like a little playtime just before going to sleep, and I give them about 30 minutes or hard play on the bed, then let them wind down in turned down lights (small lamp...big lights off), and I talk very softly to them...if at all...and don't excite them further. That's usually about the time DH shows up and get's them going again...lol. But, when he doesn't pump them up after I've worn them down and mellowed them out, I actually get a little sleep too...after they finally get all the covers plumped and fluffed and figure out if they want their head on me...or their butt in my armpit...or maybe they just need to stomp across me a few times to figure out which side of the bed is the softest and comfy-est, etc...lol But, gosh, I wouldn't trade it for the entire world...snuggling with a Yorkie or in my case, TWO, is FABULOUS!!!

| I think after about a week he will get it down. When you make it a routine they learn really fast. Ahi goes to bed before me.(on my pillow) And she moves onto her side when I come in. She also wakes up later than me. She moves on her own time.lol I wouldn't have it any other way.

| Just try and make a routine and stick to it. Make sure there isn't alot going on when its bedtime. My oldest one was difficult to get settle. Then I figured out if anything else was going on around the house he would not go to sleep. He's kinda nosey I guess. lol. Now he's really good about it. Actually...it's almost like he knows when it's bedtime. Sometimes he even goes to the stairs and will come back and look at me and go to the stairs again because he is ready for bed. All I have to say to him is "are you ready" and he will go right up to my room. Remington was always so much easier. He is my "baby." He follows me everywhere and is always by my side. All i have to say to him is "Are you ready for bed." With that being said, he runs right up the stairs and waits patiently for me to pick him up and put him in bed. Once he is up there, he snuggles up in his blanket and won't move til the morning. You will get there eventually. He will learn a certain word, phrase and will be more comfortable with the routine as a whole.

| I think they adjust really quickly to any new routine. Just stick to it. I also find that naming things makes it easier for them to know what we expect from them. So everynight I tell Ziggy, time for sleep, and he will settle right there and then and go to sleep (I so envy him as I am an insomniac and it'll take ME 2 hours to fall asleep!) I love having him in bed with me, he's a great snuggler. But Goodness Forbid if I disturb him or brush on him longer than he wants.. He'll huff and groan and move to another part of the bed! *rolls eyes* Yorkies huh

| Wow, for some reason I didn't get the emails that there were responses... So update... We spent the week at my mom's, which is chaotic enough cause she has a dog Harley doesn't really like (well after this week they have finally started to become friends, duke is a beagle puppy, and Harley isn't very tolerant of puppy behaviour). So I let him try to sleep with me each night at moms, he was good until he heard the other dog bark, so he slept with me until he started barking, and I'd put him away. He did pretty good considering the amount of chaos in that house. Well last night we went back home, but my mom and Duke came to visit me. Duke is a country dog and howled at the noise outside, and wouldn't sleep, he also didn't want to be separated from Harley. So despite constant noise and interruptions Harley did actually sleep with me for most of it, and when Duke got really upset I brought him into my bed too, and turned on the TV so he wouldn't hear the outside noise. The two of them slept together in my Duke at my feet, and Harley at my head the whole night . After Duke left at 5 this morning Harley gladly took his place and went back to sleep. He's now still asleep on the bed. Hopefully tonight he figures out the routine, I'm starting to see his little ritual, he wants in the blankets the first five minutes, then comes out and decides where he wants to sleep. I must say I quite enjoyed two dogs in my bed (except for the beagle howling, and him wanting to play with Harley at 4 in the morning).

| It's new to him now but as he gets used to it he will get into the routine. Lot's of exercise during the day does make them sleep better at night. Gracie gets upset with me if I don't turn the light off at the right time when she is ready to sleep. Also if the TV is too loud she gets restless. She has her was of communicating. She has always been good about sleeping but she has slept with me from day one. She hates having a fan on her also. Your guy may have wanted the comforter if a fan was blowing. Gracie will want under the sheet or crawl under her blanket if the fan and or AC is on. |
